    Is it Bewitched?

Yes, knew that last clue would cinch it. Elizabeth wanted to leave Bewitched do  other things when her 5 year contract was up but because  the show was so high in the ratings the network  (ABC) gave her ownership in the show. That plus her salary and going into syndication made her millions.  Bewitched ran from 1964 to 1972. It was Agnes Moorehead that told Dick Sargent  in front of him and the whole cast that she didn't like change. Agnes had become very close friends with Dick York and resented Sargent taking over the role. Protests from the Bible Belt down South didn't want Bewitched on the air for fear of devil worship LOL.   Good work Peebs, it's your turn to post one :)

I will gently reply to you that I did. Here's the first post. I admit that it's a bit obscure.

He was an actor and playwright; she was an actress who was also active in the women's suffrage movement. She had one of the great two-word lines in an early horror film. Man and wife were both British and both born in the 19th century. Their daughter married well.

Who are they? What was the wife's two-word line? (Though you will be forgiven if you don't know the line, as that might be mildly esoteric.)

And -- whom did their daughter marry?

You're right, I'm mistaken. I honestly did not see your first clue. I read your 2nd clue as the first.  It's obvious from my answer that I thought the husband and wife were born much later.  Not sure how that happened, just didn't see the clue at the top of the page.  Princess got it, good work, Carry on,.

The husband's name is the same as in the title of a 19th century English novel. The wife's two-word quote from the horror film relates to what she denies her visitors.

Wish you wrote the husband and wife were born in the 19th century in your first clue. Obsecure fits! LOL

I'm taking a guess with Jude Law and Sadie Frost ?? I know Sadie was in Dracula and what the heck, for the husband. Jude The Obsecure????

  5. Thanks for the guess and a good one but it's not the tv show or actress I'm asking about.

Hint - . this show was on tv more years than Hazel and Hazel was on NBC and CBS, this show was not on those networks.

Lav, I wanted to give someone else an opportunity to participate on this thread.

Especially since your question is so well-written and it's about Hitchcock.

So, the film is "Shadow of a Doubt" and the star was Joseph Cotten, who played Uncle Charlie.

The Oscar-winning female co-star was Teresa Wright.

Joseph Cotten also co-starred in the Hitchcock film "Under Capricorn" with Ingrid Bergman.

Correct. Earle Nelson was a serial killer, Uncle Charlie's character was based on Nelson. Uncle Charlie's sister Emma (Patricia Collinge) talks about how Uncle Charlie had a bicyle accident as a boy suffering a head injury and he was never the same again. Earle Nelson suffered a head injury after a bicyle accident he had as a boy. Joseph Cotten of course played serial killer Uncle Charlie, Teresa Wright was his niece Charlie, in Shadow Of A Doubt.

As far as I'm concerned, Joseph Cotten, a fine actor, was always gipped by the Academy, he never was nominated for an Oscar for any of his wonderful performances.

Good work Princess, your turn to post.

  7. When one of the co-stars on the show left and the new actor in the series joined the cast, one of the regular support players who was not welcoming to the new member of the cast  said "I don't like change" and they said it to the new cast member in front of the whole cast!

  8. After her contract was up, the star of this classic tv show wanted to leave and do other things. The ratings were very high so they offered her part ownership of this  comedy tv show. She stayed and  she made millions from her salary and the show in syndication because of her part ownership.  Actress and the show ??

  9. Thanks, my hands are almost raw from washing, they look like 100 year old hands LOL and I wear vinyl gloves when I go shopping!

Be back with a question later unless someone would like to post one in the meantime.

William Dozier (Batman), Joan Fontaine, Ann Rutherford

All correct Swithin., William Dozier executive produced Batman, he also narrated the show and it was his voice we heard saying Same Bat-Time, same Bat Channel. He was married to Joan Fontaine after divorcing his first wife. Joan and Dozier were married from, 1946 to 1951. They formed a production company together.  Joan starred in Letter From an Unknown Woman and You Gotta Be Happy with James Stewar, both films for their production company. they had 1 daughter together., From 1953 until Dozier's death in 1991 he and Ann Rutherford were married.

I figured the Pop Art clue would work for Batman. Good thinking Swithin and it's your thread :)

yes...12. is about their characters rather than plot (lavenderblue answered it above.)

I think 5 and 10 are the only two left...if no one gets them today, I'll  give the answers and close the thread

    5. I think the song was Just One More Chance

    10. A cup of beer and a teaspoon of dry mustard were the 2 ingredients in Felix's gravy that Bernaise Barbara wanted. Oscar told her the ingredients but she admitted that she tricked Oscar into giving it to her so she didn't use them and made a different recipe for the contest.
