yes, but it turns out it's a parachute group...they have to jump over Houston...the plane goes on to San Diego. I don't know why, but I always find this episode awfully funny.
You find this episode funny because it was. It's one of the favorite episodes of the show. I didn't watch the Odd Couple every week, only every so often. If it was in re-run I'd be watching now.

So sad. I've watched Jeopardy for as long as I can remember. It was my mom's favorite tv show.
Alex was a pleasure to watch. He was so intelligent and funny and charming. He loved classic films and you could always tell that he enjoyed the Movie questions that would show up often. No one can replace him. You will be missed by millions.
RIP Alex Trebek

Thanks, you're welcome and yes I am a fan of George Sanders acting. Maybe take a look at the Husbands and wives thread that I've posted a question in.

There have been a few of Hitch's films loosely based on true stories. An important point in this film loosely based on a real life incident is a head injury that a character had in the past and that changed his behavior. Film, character and actor who played the part ???

This Academy Award-winning actor appeared in two Hitchcock Hollywood films in a row.
In one he was a hero and in the other one he was a villain.
When you identify this actor, also give us the names of the two Hitchcock movies he appeared in.
I'm thinking it's George Sanders. He's a Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner ( for All About Eve). The 2 Hitchcock films that he appeared in, in a row would be Foreign Correspondant and Rebecca ???

We've seen one of the wives on a promo spot on TCM talking about a very famous film she was in. TCM has run this spot for a numberr of years and still shows this promo

Robert Walker
Strangers on a Train (1951)
This actor's life was a very sad story.
Correct, Robert Walker and Strangers On A Train. Yes, a very sad life. He passed when he was 32 from an allegeric reaction to meds. Jennifer Jones supposedly broke his heart because of their divorce. Their son looks just like him. Good work, your thread Princess

One of the co-stars in a Hitchcock film died less than a year after the film was completed. It was his most famous role. He was relatively young when he passed. Actor and film ??

Seeing as how you lived so close to it at the time Carol, did you ever go and watch it in person?
When I resided in SoCal, I twice went to Pasadena to watch the Rose Parade, and I have to say these things are actually a little more fun when you're right there.
(...yep, even with the bother of battling the crowds)
Yes, when I was a little girl my dad, sister and I did go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. It was fun, but cold. Afterwards we went to Horn and Hardt the Automat for hot chocolate and sandwiches. Mom stayed home to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for us. Thanks for bringing back that memory Dwight. That time of the year, especially before XMAS was the best in NY. My favorite was always the window displays in the department stores on 5th Avenue, having lunch with my mom at the Bird Cage in Lord and Taylor. Ice skating at Rockfeller Plaza and Central Park with my sister. I cherish all those memories. Beam me back Scotty, it was a much better time than now.

3. They think they're going to Houston.

Interesting info. Never watched it on CBS only NBC. As an adult, it's on in the background while preparing Thanksgiving dinner for my family. My kids grew up watching the parade and then, Miracle On 34th Street , the Edmond Gwenn version .

Thanks Miles
This is a two'fer
He was an actor and tv and movie writer and producer. He produced 2 films that one of his wives starred in the 1940's. In the 50's-60's he produced tv shows. One in the 1960's is iconic.
She was an Oscar winner and an Oscar nominee for another film, both directed by the same man. The 2 films were not the films that her future husband produced. She had an almost 60 year career.
She was a supporting actress in a series of popular films in the 30's and 40's and had a role in a legendary Oscar winning film. Her career lasted 40+ years.
Who was the husband and his 2 actress wives and the iconic tv show he was involved with in the 1960's and give some examples of the famous films his 2 wives were in ?????????

(starter pistol!)--and, most traditionally, the 1969 Kenner Classic Tales animated version of A Christmas Carol (no, not that artsy-crap '71 Richard Williams one). For some, it was Mr. Magoo, Scrooge McDuck or Michael Caine & Kermit, but this was my first Scrooge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4otTa2lRJnk
Which brings us to the subject of "White Friday"--The term I now use for what the day after Thanksgiving USED to be before 1982, namely "the Day After Thanksgiving": The day-off that you lounged in pajamas, watching kiddy cartoon specials, last remaining football games, and local-station Christmas movies, and snacked on cold turkey and stuffing and leftover appetizers, until the holiday urge struck you to get out of the house, go to the mall/city to look at the Christmas lights which had just gone up, and maybe get ideas for presents...Until you found out everyone else had the same idea, and then you wondered whether to cut the trip short.
Or, as we called it in NY, "WPIX-11 March of the Wooden Soldiers day."
If you're down south, ask your local wild-turkey hunter whether, as God is their witness, turkeys can fly... 😅
As far as I can rememberr The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was not aired on CBS but was shown on NBC. Are you referring to something other than the parade?

That's Carole Lombard and Robert Montgomery. After Hitch made that comment about actors being cows, Carole put name tags of the stars of Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the tags the cows have around their necks.

There are 366 replies in this thread. NOT one has anything positive to say about the changes made. Why aren't there responses by anyone who works for TCM? Shame on them and their disregard for us.

She was married to director Richard Brooks. He won his Oscar as screenwriter for one of my favorite films, Elmer Gantry.

Didn't Richard Brooks also direct Looking for Mr. Goodbar (I think it is the first time I saw Tom Berenger and Richard Gere has a small role). I read the book and thought Diane Keaton was great (so not Annie Hall).
Yes Richard Brooks wrote the screenplay and directed Looking for Mr. Goodbar. He wrote and directed so many other great films though. I also read Looking For Mr. Goodbar and saw the film. At the time I was a single 20 something living on my own in NYC and the book and film scared the beegeebees out of me LOL
