  1. I liked Paul Muni's acting in his film with the chain gangs. The conditions were primitive. Yet, I would like to see violent offenders (murderers, rapist) on chain gangs and not learning a trade (to build a bomb or weapon) or using weights (now we have a psychotic person with the strength of a gorilla). I

I have talked with physicians and psychiatrist who worked prisons and a vast majority of inmates are incorrigible. Disciplined yes, abused no. If the inmate is belligerent then the guard(s) have to do their job. That is why training and refreshers should be given and the guards rotated every four months. Inspected and not just by the warden.

  2. Richard M. Nixon, human being, was susceptible to many faults as all humans are. The September 1999 issue of U. S. News did justice in giving some positives of his life work, before, during, and after his presidency.

While breaking into an office, home, or any personal property is usually wrong. Not so if a bomb was to be developed or any needed action to protect the public. The main reason for his being hounded was because of the enlightenment, communist thinking/living, or any other persons who do not like what you stand for and I also believe with hatred pursued his toppling.

I personnally liked him, he was a statesman.

  3. This film has much reality in it. I have experienced those in command expecting others to do something they have not or would not do. This happened in Gallipoli. You are looked at as statistics and not human being.

The men in this film were to be court martialed with a death sentence outcome. The leaders in the trenches would do the job but without having to have more men killed unnecessarily. At Gallipoli, the lapse of time between ship to shore fire was too long and the Turkish machine gunners were back in place and the ANZAC's did not have the arms support of the big guns/cannon.

I am frustrated at times when, even if the person has been in a hazardous situation before, some people want to tell the person who was just in the area (combat or ferry sinling etc...) how things are or were.

I have seen persons enjoy exaggerated depictions verses real stories.

    Thank you TCM,

  4. I wanted to say thank you to TCM for lining up Greer Garson as a spotlight today. The last time I had a chance was last December 2007. I do appreciate this as well for other actors and actresses, e.g. Irene Dunne, Glenn Ford, or Joel McCrea. I watched "The Forsythe Woman" this morning and felt like it was the first time; it had been awhile for me. She as well as Irene Dunne, Loretta Young, Donna Reed, Dolores del Rio, Fay Wray, Lorraine Day and many more were beautiful and had lived without the conviences we enjoy today or the miracle pills for youth and vigor. The only downfall is when Hollywood managers used people or corrupted them and had no regard for their actors and including the people behind the scenes.

I also appreciate the young lady who has the discussions with Robert Osbourne, I believe her name is Rose McGowan.

    Sincerely,
