  1. Au revoir and thank you, Summer of Darkness and Eddie Mueller, Czar of Noir. Well, that was an outstanding achievement for TCM, which has never done something like this before and hopefully will do it again in the not too distant future. Sadly, back to RO and garbage made after 1960. Sooooooooooooooooooooo sad. Well, at least there's the occasional, very occasional classically classic movie and Ben M.
  2. Boy is that true. She's a good actor, but in a horse facey-kind of way.
  3. Shoot. I hope they show it again, sapphiere. Desperate sounds great. I'm tempted to order a Polynesian Pearl Diver next time I'm in a Chinese restaurant. I can see why too many might be nauseating, though, get a load of the ingredients Serving: 1 1 1/2 ounces Puerto Rican rum 1/2 ounce Demerara rum 1/2 ounce Jamaican rum 1 barspoon Velvet falernum 1 ounce orange juice 3/4 ounce lime juice 3/4 ounce Pearl Diver's Mix (1 ounce of sweet butter, 1 ounce honey, 1 teaspoon simple syrup, 1 dash cinnamon, 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla syrup and 1/2 a teaspoon of allspice dram) 6 ounces crushed
  4. Did you? I left it, didn't find it interesting at all. Loved Criss Cross, hadn't ever seen the beginning. Mr. primos couldn't believe that was Lili Munster. Drat, missed Desperate and The Asphalt Jungle. Burt is pretty but Sterling is drop dead gorgeous. Good movies this P.M. - on a Saturday??? What gives? And with the even prettier than Sterling Gene Tierney. No doubt TCM will soon return to the garbage made after 1960.
  5. Don't know if it was the best or not, since I never noticed, since I don't like her, but Jennifer Garner got boo-koo press for her job.
  6. Judas Priest, if Burr's perching on desks and switchboards isn't the creepiest thing I've ever seen, I don't know what is. Manly it ain't.
  7. Oh goody, The Blue Gardenia is on today, as is While The City Sleeps. Shown not quite as much as NBNW, but always welcome.
  8. Europe does. Having finally given up on TCM, I find Netflix a wonderful alternative. There are, usually, many intelligent recent ADULT, i.e., not moronic American, films that are intelligent, well written, well acted, and well directed, and 9 times out of 10 they are foreign. Heck no, Hollyweird is not going to make any commercial films for adults. If there is one, it is usually European and given a glut of PR, e.g. The Marigold Hotel movies (the latest screwed up with the non-actor Richard Gere) or an indie that also gets PR. They are held up and shaken for all to see like the cub in The
  9. Nice post, GGGGerald. Especially this, good luck with it: Other opinions too.
  10. Why do you say that? Isn't everyone here allowed to post about anything they want as often as they want? Bless you, brother.
  11. WOW! We have to thank our lucky stars it wasn't a week of **** Martin movies. What a joke. About as classic as rap.
  12. Which is why I bolded I also love Laird Cregar. in CaveGirl's post. Also, Burr wasn't in The Lodger. And Burr wasn't nearly as talented as Cregar, he was just good at being evil and creepy. But he was memorable in the tacked-on scenes in Godzilla, I have to give him that.
  13. My stars, one would think you care about all of this. I don't.
  14. WOW. A.A. Milne WROTE THIS? I'm surprised that Ben Affleck (or some other yuppie idiot in Hollyweird) didn't make a modern version of this amazingly modern movie. I HOPE YOU'RE ALL WATCHING IT!!!!!!!!!! WOWIE, ZOWIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I hope you're not missing Where Sinners Meet. The author of Winnie the Pooh WROTE THIS? Holy mackerel! People having an affair who are leaving their spouses, kidnapped to make sure they really like each other? WOW! Not in America, that's for sure. I know Owen is the fairly decent Scrooge, but is the butler Jacob Marley from Sim's wonderful Scrooge? WOW. I hope you're watching this. HAH!!!!!!!!!!! Wait until you see the other kidnapped couple! HAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, sadly Gilbert Emery the butler died in 1945 and was not the butler in Sim's Scrooge.
  16. Easy. The sexiest monster in the history of monsters - Bela Lugosi's Dracula. I never drink - wine. To hell with the hero, who didn't feel sorry for Godzilla when he was evaporated or, as you noted, Kong when he was killed because he had the hots for Fay Wray? If he knew what a lousy actor she was, he wouldn't have bothered.
  17. Wow. Milk @ 12 cents, tuition @ $6000., a mink coat @ $2500., and sex outside of a veddy proper marriage. Excellent pre-code, they don't make 'em like that anymore, and TCM doesn't show enough of the ones they do. Today is a good day, thank you TCM.
  18. Powell was so cute in I Love You Again with Loy. Amazing how bad he was with Rosalind in Rendezvous. Today is a good day, stuff like TCM used to show, in the good ole days. Marie Dressler is magnificent.
  19. Same here. He was excellent in The Lodger. Shame. I didn't know he died when he was only a kid. What a waste of talent.
  20. Never more scuzzy than in The Blue Gardenia. Burr perched on that switchboard made my skin crawl, of course him going after Norah made me root for Ruth. Justifiable homicide, no question.
  21. What I said. They found their audience, and are appealing to the lowest common denominator. Good for them, I wish them all the best.
