  2. I have always loved Lena and wished she had done more films in the Forties. Although she seemed a little BITTER about her Hollywood career since she lost the role of Tondelayo to Hedy Lamarr, and was often over looked when good parts came up, I am still glad she was part of the scene. Without her, the Black experience in early Hollywood would have just been mostly servants or wisecracking sidekicks. She represented THE beautiful, classy black woman. So, here's to Lena, The Horne!
  3. Thomas Edison Spencer Tracy - Edison, The Man
  4. Hey there, ILRM! Yes, I love Irene. Most everyone does; although, we often forget about her when thinking of the GIANT movie star. Funny, that, because she WAS one. She was one of the first to go independent like Cary. You had to be pretty BIG to do that. My favorite movies of hers are Cimarron, Back Street, The Silver Cord, Roberta, The Awful Truth, My Favorite Wife, Penny Serenade, and Anna and the King of Siam. I love it when she sings. She is right up there with Jeanette in my book, but anything she does, and she does everything well, is ok with me.
