I remember seeing and old Civil War movie where a young union soldier was brought before the President by an older soldier and the boy's mother. He fell asleep while on guard duty. Does anyone remember the title of the movie and even if the story is true?

I am looking for the name of the actress who sang and played the piano in this movie. I don't remember her name in the movie or even if it was mentioned. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bunnyhop12
