[Looking for movie title]

Thanks I believe this just may be the movie. I do know when I saw it years ago I actually like the movie but I didn't see it from the beginning and have been looking for it ever since.

I saw a movie years ago when I was in my teens and I am lookign for the title. I don't remember who was in the movie but I will give a little description of what I remember:

 

There was a lady living in town with her brother (I think). they lived along water (not sure if was a river or lake or ocean). I am not sure if she was a widow or just single.

 

There was a mountain man that I believe she ended up marrying (Not sure if she was made by her family or not). He was considered a hermit. The lady never wanted to marry him and hated the man.

 

At one point in the movie it was winter and he got hurt by indians. The lady found him and went for help.

 

That is all I remember. If someone can help identify this movie I would be grateful.
