  4. "The Voice" was Frank Sinatra.
  5. Yes, a lot of people probably didn't know that he played the Frankenstein Monster. So did Bela Lugosi. You can stop dancing for a while, cujas. It's your turn to post a question.
  6. Good guesses but incorrect. Clue No. 1 was A young woman is attracted to a man with a suspicious past. Clue No. 2 A young man, who is an acquaintance of the young woman, finds himself falling in love with another young woman, who happens to be of a different race.
  7. And the other singer was Ken Curtis. Good job, Skipper. It's your thread now.
  8. You are correct, Dan. I had forgotten about "The Searchers". The other movie was "Wagon Master". Stan Jones also did the music for the "Spin And Marty" serials on "The Mickey Mouse Club". Your turn, Dan.
  9. As they say in golf, You Da Man, Skip. Actually, I'm guilty of being involved in too many threads at the same time and forgetting who posted last. I will back off a little.

  11. Aha, Mudskipper, are you going to give a complete answer?
  12. You must be getting awfully tired if you're waiting for me. Speaking of vamping, here's one that you might like. Universal's famous monsters, Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Frankenstein Monster, and The Mummy were all played at one time or another by the same actor. You probably know who that is. Can you name the actor and at least one movie for each of the four monsters that he played? (He played some of those characters in several movies, but one each will do.)
  13. I saw "The Pink Jungle" in a theater when it first came out. One of the funnier scenes was when James Garner and George Kennedy had chapped lips after traipsing through the desert, so they both put on lipstick. The movie was a bit corny, but not boring. Now: Clue no. 1 A young woman is attracted to a man with a suspicious past. (That really narrows it down.)
  14. It has to be "The Pink Jungle" with James Garner and George Kennedy. "The Pink Jungle" was the name of the lipstick. The movie was set in a desert.
  15. OK. If you watch the Encore Western channel, you may know the answer to this already. Stan Jones was a park ranger in the late 1940's. He was assigned to be a guide to a film crew that was shooting a movie. At night, he would entertain the crew with songs that he had written. They encouraged him to get them published, and he did. One song, "Ghost Riders In The Sky", became a big hit for Vaughan Monroe. A short time later, a well known director remembered Jones and, in the early fifties, he used several of his songs in a couple of westerns. He even gave Jones a small acting part in one of the pictures. Who was that director and what were the two movies that he used the songs in?
  16. Ok, I waited about ten more minutes. The movie is "Old Gringo" with Gregory Peck. If I'm correct, then we'll wait until tomorrow for my next post, as it's very late now. Yikes, it's already tomorrow! I guess I should have said we'll wait until daytime.
  17. Is it "An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce?
  18. Paul Robeson In "Sheena", Ted Wass Played _________ The Smothers Brothers Sang About "Marching To Pre__________" Song Favorite Of Snow White And The FBI Forensic Lab, "Someday My _______ Will Come" A Little Drink Sinatra Played "_______ Joey"
  19. Well, I'm back and I see that no one posted a movie music question so here's a new one. Dale Evans was a talented songwriter. She wrote many songs including "Happy Trails To You" and "The Bible Tells Me So". She wrote a song that was performed in a movie that neither she nor Roy Rogers was in. However, Roy's backup group, The Sons Of The Pioneers, was featured as singing soldiers in the picture. They sang several songs in the movie, but, ironically, they did not sing Dale's song. Can you name the song written by Dale Evans, the movie it was featured in, and who sang it in the movie? I'll give you a hint. It was sung by four men in a tent. This was not some obscure "B" picture. This was a major movie made by a well known director.
  20. "The Student Prince" was supposed to star Mario Lanza. He had a dispute with the studio and was replaced by Edmund Purdom. Mario Lanza had already recorded all his songs, so Edmund Purdom had to lip-sync to Mario Lanza's voice. The other movie is "Rosalie", a 1937 film that starred dancer Eleanor Powell. Nelson Eddy did the singing. If I'm correct, I'll leave the thread open. I will be away most of the day.
  21. I must be making these too easy. Yes. Mr. Muddy, It was Mary Martin. In the fifties she did a live television production of "Peter Pan". The "Who Shot J.R.?" episode of "Dallas" was a season ending cliff-hanger. Viewers had to wait until the new season to find out that it was Mary Crosby. Here's something you may not have known. When Barbara Bel Geddes left "Dallas" for health reasons, she was replaced by Donna Reed as the mother of the Ewing boys. Mary Martin was offered the role first, but turned it down. Your turn, Skip.
  22. Thanks. In the 1940's, a female musical actress made a handfull of movies. A couple of them were with one of the top male musical stars of the era. She never became a major movie star, however, but she did go on to become one of Broadway's all time greats. She appeared in some of Broadway's best loved musicals, and in the fifties she starred in a live musical play on television that was very well received. Some years later, her only son appeared on a TV show with the only daughter of that top male musical star that I referred to. The TV show became one of the most talked about TV shows of all time. Can you name the musical actress and actor and their children that worked together, as well as the famous TV show that I referred to?
  23. "Top Hat" is correct. The character names must have given it away. I didn't even get to the musical clues. Good Job, Skipper. Now it's your turn.
