I assume that the name is Audie Murphy, although I can't figure out all the clues. There is an extinct bird called the Auk and there is the river Dee in Scotland, but how do you get Murphy out of those other clues? A little helpful hint: On these boards, if you use more movie, TV, or pop culture clues, I think you will get more responses. If Audie Murphy is correct, then try this:
She Starred In "Torchy Blaine In Panama" In "The Sound Of Music", It's A "Long, Long Way To Run" She Was The Original "Sweater Girl"

It's "Manhattan Merry Go Round",(1937) where Gene And Smiley played themselves as radio stars and they sang one song. Incidentally, that movie, which is available at places that sell real cheap DVD's, had several "Guest Stars", including Cab Calloway, Kay Thompson, and a very young Joe DiMaggio, who was in only his second season with the Yankees. You mentioned the great titles which had little to do with the stories in those old westerns. Often, the title of the movie was also the title of a song that the hero sang in the picture. I also have a copy of "The Phantom Empire", and I would categorize it as a sci-fi western. I wonder what ever happened to Betsy King Ross, the "World's Champion Trick Rider". Good job, mudskipper, the thread is yours.

Thanks, Eve. Here's a simple question. Did Gene Autry ever appear in a movie that was not a western? If so, can you name one?
-
Eve, I hope you had to look that up, because if you just happened to know it, then you really are the undisputed Queen of Trivia! Actually, in my mind, you already are. Great job, as usual. Now it's your turn.

Could it be Preston Sturges speaking about "The Miracle Of Morgan's Creek"? It is one of the funniest movies ever made, but it's almost a "miracle" that the censors at that time allowed it to be released.

Her's one that I hope will be a little bit of a challenge. The story of Peter Pan has been presented many times on stage, TV, and movies. Everyone knows that on stage, the role of Peter is traditionally played by a woman. Another tradition is that both Captain Hook and Mr. Darling are both played by the same actor. When Walt Disney made his animated version of Peter Pan, the actor who voiced the role of Captain Hook, also did the voice of Mr. Darling. For the voice of Wendy, Disney used an actress who had done the voice of a lead character in one of Walt's earlier animated films. Who are the actor and actress that I am referring to, and what was the character that the actress had provided the voice for in that earlier movie?

This one I knew right away. "It's A Wonderful World" (1939) and "It's A Wonderful Life" (1946), both starring James Stewart.

Might have been a mistake? Ernest Borgnine is still going strong at age 93. His movie and TV credits will soon number 200. Mudskipper gets it by a minute ahead of Eve.

Could someone post photos of Christine Taylor (Mrs. Ben Stiller) and Maureen McCormick? Christine Taylor played Marcia Brady in "The Brady Bunch Movie" in 1995 and even Maureen McCormick thought they looked a lot alike.

Thanks, Mudskipper. Do you know me? I was born and raised in Connecticut. After high school I spent ten years in the U.S. Navy, which may have helped prepare me for a future role that I would become famous for. After I returned to civilian life, I got involved with local and regional theater groups, which led to roles on Broadway, and ultimately to Hollywood. I started out in small parts, often playing a villain. After a few years, I got my breakthrough part in a film set in the World War II era. Now, my name was known and I started getting offers of many parts in all kinds of films. With my face and physique, I was definitely not leading man material, yet I got another big break when I played the lead in a low budget dramatic film that was well received. I won the academy award for that role. At about that time I starred in another dramatic role opposite Bette Davis. My career was taking off. I kept busy in movies for a few more years until a television role came along that had me starring in a sitcom. The show ran for several seasons. I was Emmy nominated and I became a household name. I went back to movies and appeared In some major productions. I worked with Lee Marvin in a war film, I worked for Sam Peckinpah in a big budget western, and I played a major role in a famous disaster movie. That was over thirty years ago, and I'm still going strong. I've appeared in lots of movies and TV shows since that time. I've had Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. I've done the voice of a cartoon character, and something you may not know, I was the first center square on the original "Hollywood Squares" TV show. I have been married quite a few times, once to a character actress who was in a lot of westerns, and once to a Broadway star. That one was a big mistake and did not last long at all. My current wife and I have been married for more than thirty years. She has become a well known entrepreneur and has appeared on TV frequently. Do You know me now?
