You are correct, vf. Her movie career was only about five years long, which was about four years longer than her marriage to Cary Grant. Now it's your thread.
-
Cary Grant was once married to an actress who co-starred with Charlie Chaplin in a well known movie. What was the movie and who was the actress?
-
It looks like Jay C. Flippen.

Is it Marlene Dietrich in "The Blue Angel" and Ingrid Bergman in "Intermezzo"?

IMDB says "Manhattan Melodrama" was remade as "Northwest Rangers" in 1942 with the Gable and Powell roles of **** the gangster and Jim the D.A. now changed to **** the murderous gambler and Jim the mountie. The parts were played by James Craig and William Lundigan, respectfully, and the setting has moved from a big city to the Yukon. MGM was grooming James Craig to be a sort of substitute for Clark Gable while Gable was in the army. This begs the question, what is the difference between remakes and movies with similar themes?

We could probably have some lively discussions about this, but the answer is "A Christmas Carol" with dozens of adaptations from the silent days to the recent Jim Carrey movie. There was a musical version called "Scrooge" and Bill Murray's comedy version, "Scrooged", as well as Mr. Magoo's version. Finance, it's your thread.

While we're on the subject of remakes, what movie do you suppose has been remade the most times? I'll give some hints. Some of the adaptations had the same title and some had different titles. Some were theatrical features and some were TV adaptations. Some had human actors and some were animated. It's really pretty easy. Give it a try!

Lavender, I'm not asking anything. It appears that new member Okay99 is trying to respond to the Actor/Movie association thread by posting several new threads. Okay99, are you out there?
-
Okay99, you need to click on the name of the thread and then click on "Reply" on the right hand side or "Reply To This Thread" at the top of the screen. Apparently, you are clicking on "Post New Thread" and you're really posting a response. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Welcome to the boards.

Angeline Brown is Angie Dickinson If you go about 8 pages into this games and trivia forum, you will see a thread called "Will The Real Lucille LeSueur" which ran for quite a while in 2008. I made the last post in January 2009. If we are going to resurrect it, I will continue where I left off with: Eleanor Geisman

"Libeled Lady" (1936) with William Powell, Myrna Loy, and Jean Harlow was remade ten years later as "Easy To Wed" with Van Johnson, Esther Williams, and Lucille Ball. "The Awful Truth" (1937) with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne was remade in 1953 as "Let's Do It Again" with Ray Milland and Jane Wyman. Howard Hawks' 1938 film "Bringing Up Baby" with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn was remade by Hawks in 1964 as "Man's Favorite Sport?" with Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss, although when I saw it, I did not think of it as a remake. I don't know what the other remake was.

Correct, Eve. I believe it was right before they did the TV series. Your turn!

Okay, here's one that should be easy. We all know that Ricky Nelson appeared in "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne and "The Wackiest Ship In The Army" with Jack Lemmon. Did you know that he was in a movie with Rock Hudson? What was that movie?

The only name I can come up with is Arquette, but Cliff Arquette (aka Charley Weaver) was the grandfather of Patricia, Rosanna, and David. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Now: Hope and Faye

I think that you are referring to Harry Davenport and Frank Morgan. Harry Davenport, who played the grandfather in"Meet Me In St. Louis", died in August of 1949. Frank Morgan, who will forever be known as "The Wizard Of Oz", died in September of 1949 while filming "Annie Get Your Gun". His scenes had to be re-shot with his replacement, Louis Calhern, as Buffalo Bill. Congratulations, Eve, and thank you for a very entertaining first year on these boards. I, for one, have enjoyed your posts very much, and I would bet that the other regulars here would concur.
