Danny Thomas played songwriter Gus Kahn in "I'll See You In My Dreams" with Doris Day (1951).
If that's right, then I'll defer to cmvgor, who opened the door on this one.

Ingrid Bergman - Mother
Finance, all she had to do was to go back to page one of this thread on Friday.

Exactly right, Lavender. Queenie Smith and Sammy White played the dance team of Frank and Ellie. Those parts were played by Marge and Gower Champion in the 1951 remake. Hattie McDaniel gets to sing part of "Can't Help Lovin Dat Man". Irene Dunne does the "Gallivantin' Around" number in blackface. With the main themes of miscegenation and spousal abandonment, it is certainly not a comedy, but it is a great musical. It probably saved Universal Studios from bankruptcy. Your thread, Lav.

Pat and Bebbie Boone use the same last name so Pat Boone doesn't fit the category. Remember, the people have to use different last names. A good answer for Debbie Boone might have been Rosemary Clooney, Mother-in-law.

Calling the Queen Of Hearts Queenie would be a stretch, even by my standards. No. this is a well known musical that I have mentioned in several recent threads. You might come up with it if you're just gallivantin' around these message boards.

Shirley MacLaine - Sister
Thanks for responding so quickly. Let's try to get the relationship as well for those who may be unfamiliar with the names . I suspect that we will have some rather obscure ones in the future. Thanks.

A year ago I started the Same Name - No Relation thread. Here is one that is basically just the opposite. I will name a celebrity, say *Joan Fontaine*. The next poster will name a famous relative of hers who uses a *different last name* as a professional name, and their relationsip. In this case that would be *Olivia DeHavilland - Sister*. Then that person would leave a name for the next poster. A couple of rules up front . No spouses are allowed. You can use blood relatives as well as step mothers, step fathers, step brothers and step sisters, half brothers and sisters and adopted children. If I posted *Judy Garland* you could answer with *Liza Minnelli* or *Lorna Luft*, but not Vincente Minnelli. You'll find that children of famous women who use their father's last name will probably be the most common relationships used. And one more thing, What if a celebrity doesn't use a last name, like Madonna or Cher? That's okay. For *Cher*, you could answer with Chastity Bono, but you couldn't use Sonny Bono. Good luck! Let's get started. The first name will be:
*George Sanders*

There was a movie that featured an actress whose first name was Queenie, and in the same movie there was a character named Queenie that was played by a different actress. What was the name of the movie and who were the actresses?

Correct, Eve, I couldn't have said it better myself. And by the way, here's a little bit of trivia for everyone. Riley's daughter, Babs, was played by Gloria Henry in the original TV series and by Lugene Sanders in the series with William Bendix. Later, they appeared together on an episode of "Richard Diamond, Private Detective". They played roomates. Your turn, Eve, and aren't you glad that your name isn't Gummo?

Well, that question was certainly more than I bargained for! Now, as long as we're on the subject of old TV shows, "The Life Of Riley" was a popular show in the 1950's. It starred William Bendix as Riley and Marjorie Reynolds as his wife, Peg. They were not the original stars of the TV series, however. William Bendix had starred in the series on radio in the forties, but he was under contract to RKO and couldn't do the original TV series. Who played Riley and Peg in the original TV series, and what member of a famous show business family was credited with helping to develop the radio series?

I think I've got it. Ray Milland did a show called "Meet Mr. McNulty". It was also called "The Ray Milland Show". It ran for two seasons from 1953 to 1955. Later, he did a series called "Markham" in 1959 and 1960. If this isn't it, then I give up!

Is it "Calloway Went Thataway"?

Okay, Thomas Mitchell had a show called "Glencannon" around 1959 and Jane Wyman hosted "The Fireside Theater" for a couple of seasons beginning about 1957. How's that?

By Any Other Name..
