  1. No, and actually, Groucho didn't make a whole lot of movies. You'll find that they both worked with Marilyn Monroe, but that's not what I am looking for. Check the titles of their movies.
  2. How about "The Sound Of Music"? There's also: Come To The Stable Boys Town Going My Way Mass Appeal Monsignor Angels With Dirty Faces
  3. Yes, it's "The Parent Trap". The original, with Hayley Mills as the twins, was released in 1961, and the remake, with Lindsay Lohan, some 37 years later in 1998. Joanna Barnes also worked with Hayley Mills' sister, Juliette, on an episode of "Nanny And The Professor". And speaking of remakes, she played Jane in a 1959 remake of "Tarzan, The Ape Man", which was one of the first Tarzan movies shot in color. Your turn, Eve.
  4. Thanks, Eve. There was a very successful comedy about a divorced couple whose children try to reunite them. The father, however, has a girlfriend to complicate things. The movie was remade many years later and the actress who played the girlfriend in the original movie was cast as the mother of the girlfriend in the remake. What was the movie and who was the actress that played those two roles?
  5. Brown John, Kathleen, Leslie, and Trevor
  6. Yoo Hoo, It's me, My name is Pinky Lee! Old song "Shuffle Off To _________" Bill Murray Film "What About _______?" Cup ______ Saucer She Played Dallas In "Stagecoach" "___ _______ For Adano"
  7. That may be true, although I think Groucho's early films were shot in New York. No, there is something else. Here's a hint: Check out their filmographies.
  8. Yeah, but she was getting old. I think she was about 27 at the time! Now: Besides being movie stars with a flair for comedy, what did the careers of Cary Grant and Groucho Marx have in common?
  9. I believe the movie was "Royal Wedding". Judy was asked to replace June Allyson, who became pregnant. Then Judy had her contract terminated while filming "Annie Get Your Gun". Jane Powell replaced her in "Royal Wedding" and Betty Hutton got to play Annie Oakley. How am I doing so far?
  10. Yes, it's the 1936 movie "Showboat" where Alan Jones snatches, then talks to, Irene Dunne's stockings before singing "I Have The Room Above Her". This movie was very successful and may have saved Universal Studios from bankruptcy. If you're not familiar with the song, I believe you can find it on YouTube. It's your turn, lavenderblue .
  11. Sorry, but it's not "My Sister Eileen". This movie is from the thirties. The leading man was profiled not long ago by me on the Do You Know Me thread. The music was by Jerome Kern and it was, and still is, a very well known, ground breaking musical. The song in this scene was not in the original Broadway production, but was added for this film. A subsequent remake years later did not contain the song, but revivals in live theatrical productions sometimes do.
  12. No, not "Born to Dance". This is a movie version of a Broadway show with this song added for the movie.
  13. My next guess would be Harry Cohn.
  14. Thanks, Eve, and Happy Holidays to you and everyone else who contributes to these boards. A woman leans out her window and hangs her stockings on a line. The man directly upstairs grabs them and starts talking to them as if he were talking to a person. Then he sings about having the room above her. She eventually joins him on the roof.
  15. Yes, in the 1929 film, Jeanne Eagles played Leslie Crosbie and Reginald Owen played the husband. In that version, the lover, Geoffrey Hammond, actually had some dialogue, as opposed to the 1940 version where he is shot and killed in the opening scene. It's your thread, finance.
  16. Actually, Powell and Loy are not even close to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, who, by my count were featured together in 29 movies, a TV series, and countless other appearances. I'm not even sure if they hold the record. Remember, before television, there were a lot of movie series with the same actors and actresses playing continuing roles. Now: Herbert Marshall was in two film versions of the same story. In one of them he plays the lover of the leading lady, and in the other he plays her unsuspecting husband. What were the names of the movies?
  17. I was going for "Babes In Toyland". FAO Schwarz is a famous toy store in New York. It was featured in "Home Alone 2". Who are the Wilson sisters? Do you mean Williams?
  18. Christmas In July Didrickson Zaharias, Ruth, And The Pig In FAO Schwarz
  19. Monkey Business Onslaught Of The Marionette Operators
  20. Ward -- Helen was a big band singer whose biggest hit was "Goody Goody" Whitney, Robert, and Marie
  21. Laura LH - Laura Hunt WL- Waldo Lydecker MM- Mike McPherson SC- Shelby Carpenter Try this one: BW PD BH JH I'll even be kind and give a hint. If you live in the east or midwest, look outside!
