  1. With that last clue, it must be "Dragnet", or at least the sixties version with Harry Morgan as Jack Webb's partner. They had previously appeared in "Appointment With Danger" (1950), "Dark City" (1950). and "Pete Kelly's Blues" (1955). They also appeared in a 1968 short documentary called "Star Spangles Salesman", where some celebrities try to sell U.S. Savings bonds. Carol Burnett and the Three Stooges are among the celebs. It was Jack Webb's hands that certified that "Dragnet" was a Mark VII Limited production.
  2. You are correct, Princess. It's an ad for Reduco Weight Slayer in a newspaper that William Bendix has. The actress is Mary Anderson. Very good, Princess. Now you get to go next.
  3. Very good, Princess. If I had needed another clue it would have been that the wife had a sister who was also an actress. That would have been Audrey Meadows, who played Alice on "The Honeymooners". I'm glad that you liked the question. Princess, you get to post the next one.
  4. You are 100% correct, Lavender. Good work! You get the thread now.
  5. Thanks, Lavender. Here are some others. Now, Hitchcock usually made a cameo appearance in his movies, but since "Lifeboat" takes place entirely in the boat, how did he manage to make an appearance?
  6. He started in radio and eventually became an actor in a few movies and many guest spots in TV series. He even starred as the title character in a well known movie biopic. However, he was much better known as a host of TV variety and game shows. He was also a frequent panelist on some game shows. In addition to all that, he was a talented musician who composed many songs, some of which became very well known. She was an actress who appeared in movies in the forties and fifties, usually in supporting roles. She was in a "Thin Man" movie that was recently shown on TCM. She worked in films with Katherine Hepburn, Robert Montgomery, and David Niven. Starting in the 1950's, she worked mostly in television, earning three Emmy nominations over a long career. She also appeared as a celebrity panelist on game show, sometimes with her famous husband, and sometimes without him. Who are these two?
  7. My original question was posted on December 24th, so it's a pretty safe bet that one of the movies was a perennial Christmas time favorite of TCM. Here is a hint: Both movies were released in 1940.
  8. Could it be that Hitchcock and the others were all pictured on postage stamps?
  9. Could it be Blake Edwards and Julie Andrews? He directed her in several movies, including "Darling Lilly", "10", "S.O.B.", and "Victor/Victoria". He created some TV series like "Peter Gunn" and "Mr. Lucky". He also directed "Breakfast At Tiffany's" and the "Pink Panther" series. You know about her filmography. Her non-movie credits include the Broadway stage in shows like "The Boy Friend", "My Fair Lady", and "Camelot", as well as numerous TV appearances on variety shows and specials like "Carol And Julie At Carnegie Hall" with Carol Burnett.
  10. Very good, Bagels. The thread is all yours now.
  11. Yes, it was little Jon Provost before he was Timmy on "Lassie". The movie was a 1956 remake of a 1939 film called "Five Came Back" with Lucille Ball and Chester Morris. Both movies were directed by John Farrow. By the way, Princess, did you say that Anita Ekberg was a " heavyweight"? Why, she was just a full-figured gal. Princess, you get the next turn.
  12. Wow, you are good! I thought that I would have to come up with more clues, but you got it, Lavender, so now it's your turn.
  13. Very good, Lavender. You are correct and you get the thread.
  14. Thanks Princess. Happy New Year to you and all the folks on the TCM boards! Now, do you know this one: My heart's afraid to fly - it's crashed before... But then you take my hand, My heart starts to soar once more.
  15. An American, while visiting a fashion house, gets stuck in an elevator.
  16. Recently, while showing movies and their remakes, TCM aired a movie about a plane crash in a jungle setting and the passengers who survived. Playing one of the passengers was a little boy who would later star in a well known family drama on TV that ran for years. Can you name the movie, the little boy, and his later TV series?
  17. All clues point to "All about Love", sung by Eddie Fisher in "Bundle Of Joy". It was written by Josef Myrow and Mack Gordon. Here it is:
  18. Happy New Year, Lavender! You're half right, Lav. "I Confess" was filmed in Quebec. Topaz was filmed in France. The Hitchcock movie, filmed at least partially in Denmark, starred an American actor and a British actress. Now can you name it?
  19. It's probably the saddest movie ever made, "All Mine To Give".
  20. Dennis Morgan was Wyn Strafford in "Kitty Foyle" Jack Carson was Gooper Pollitt in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" Joan Leslie was Velma in "High Sierra" Ida Lupino was Marie, also in "High Sierra" The movie is "The Hard Way" Next: A phony psychic named Albuquerque and her cab driver boyfriend, Tom Buchanan, are hunting down a missing heir so they can collect a reward, when they encounter serial kidnappers Rayette DiPesto and John F. Kennedy.
  21. After Hitchcock came to the U.S. from England, he filmed many of his movies in Hollywood, but he occasionally did some filming outside of the country, He filmed much of one movie in Denmark and much of another movie in Canada. Can you name these two films?
  22. Could it be Richard Crenna? In the 50's he was in "Our Miss Brooks" and "The Real McCoys" on TV. After "The Real McCoys" ended in the sixties, he starred in a drama series called "Slattery's People". It was cancelled in it's second season. The two hit movies would be "The Sand Pebbles" and "Wait Until Dark".
  23. I've got a different answer. "The Trouble With Harry" is a Hitchcock film from 1955. It featured John Forsythe and a youngster named Jerry Mathers. In 1957, John Forsythe would star in "Bachelor Father" and Jerry Mathers would star in "Leave It To Beaver", both popular TV shows that lasted into the 1960's.
  24. Nice work, everyone. We have them all now. Peebs gets to post next.
