  4. Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth starred in two movies in consecutive years.  In 1941 they were in "You'll Never Get Rich", and in 1942 they starred in " You Were Never Lovelier".  "You'll Never Get Rich" featured music by Cole Porter.  Fred had appeared on Broadway in a Porter show called "The Gay Divorce" and he had starred in the movie "Broadway Melody Of 1940" which featured Porter music.  The song in question here is called "The Wedding Cake Walk" from "You'll Never Get Rich".  It was sung in the movie by Liltin' Martha Tilton, who had been a big band singer with Benny Goodman in the late 1930's before embarking on a solo career in the forties.

Here is a hard to find clip:

  5. What two unrelated MGM movies were shot consecutively and featured the same leading man, the same leading lady, and the same well known character actor in support?  One of them was shown on TCM recently.

  6. "Enter Madame"is  the right film.  It was Elissa Landi who is holding Cary Grant's arm.  Cecilia Parker did indeed play Andy Hardy's sister, and the other fellow is Frank Albertson, who you may remember from "Room Service" with the Marx Brothers.  Good job, everyone!

Let's give the thread to Peebs for the next posting.

One of the actresses was in a "Thin Man" movie.  The other actress worked frequently with Mickey Rooney.

    Yes it certainly was.    Now:

Now, we'll call this next series "Who's that with Cary Grant?  Can you name the actors and actresses pictured with Cary Grant, as well as the movie they are making?  Remember, several people worked with Cary in more than one movie, so look carefully.
