  1. She:  She grew up in Texas and Arkansas, married at fourteen, had a son at fifteen, and divorced at sixteen.  Two more marriages were unsuccessful, but she did start a singing career on radio stations in Louisville, Dallas, and Chicago, where she was noticed by a talent agent and given a few small movie roles.  It was while working in a western that she met her next, and last, husband.

He:  He was from the midwest and was a talented singer.  He started a radio singing group that specialized in country and western songs.  The group appeared in a few movies with Gene Autry and one with Bing Crosby.  Gene's studio decided to take a chance and star him in a few western movies.  When Gene Autry went into the army, this fellow became a star for the studio.

He and she had appeared in a few movies together and had become good friends when tragedy struck.  His wife died shortly after the couple had adopted a baby.  They already had two other children.  Now the co-stars became closer than ever and in less than two years they were married and starting a family of their own.  It was a case of "Yours, Mine, And Ours" in real life.  They stayed married until his death more than fifty years later.

    Who are they?

  2. 100% correct, Princess.  By the way, some of the original cast members of the 1941 Broadway show, some relative unknowns at the time, included:

Phyllis Brooks, Joan Carroll, James Dunn, Betty Hutton, Rags Ragland, Arthur Treacher, June Allyson, Betsy Blair, Lucille Bremer, Janis Carter, and Vera-Ellen.

Rags Ragland was in both the Broadway show and the movie version.  June Allyson was Ethel Merman's understudy in the Broadway show.

Here are Ethel Merman and Ann Sothern , along with Eddie Cantor, George Murphy, and the Nicholas Brothers in a clip from "Kid Millions":

Good job, Princess.  You're really up next this time.

  3. One of the most ridiculous uses of the disclaimer was the 1978 movie "The Greek Tycoon".  In the movie, the widow (Jacqueline Bisset) of assassinated U.S. President James Cassidy (James Franciscus), marries an aging Greek shipping tycoon, played by Anthony Quinn.  She wants to get away from the high profile and politically powerful Cassidy family.  In this movie, President Cassidy's brother had even been his Attorney General.

Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental.  Yeah, right!

  4. OK, Princess, if you insist.

A Broadway show with music by Cole Porter was adapted for the screen, but only a few of Porter's songs were retained for the movie version.   The lead actress from Broadway was not in the movie version, however both the lead actress from the Broadway show and the lead actress from the movie version had appeared together previously in another Hollywood musical film.  Can you name the show and both lead actresses, as well as the earlier movie that they were in together?

  6. Sorry, Arturo.  It's not Bill Healey.  This youngster starred in a 1940 movie about two boys, one black and one white, who take a runt of the litter dog and train him to be a champion field dog, or hunting dog.

Here's a hint for everyone: Say the syllables individually.

When you post your answer, don't forget to post a new one of your own.

  7. OK, Princess, I'll go it alone.  That's how it must be.

As long as I find you in every dream,

I know, I'll see you each night in the starlight's gleam.

This song was sung by two people, one of whom would later become famous on TV.

  8. Frequent guests on "The Ed Sullivan Show" were a group of comic harmonica players that featured a midget dressed as a cowboy.  Years earlier, under the name "Harmonica Rascals" they appeared in a musical that starred Walter Huston as an ex-con who has come back home to see his family.  Can you name the movie, as well as the little harmonica player?

Actually, Lavender, mine was Helen Jerome Eddy, a silent movie star who played character parts in sound films until the early forties.  In "Biloxi Blues", Matthew Broderick played Eugene Jerome.

Yours is Jane + Wine + Min or Jane Wyman

  11.  I'm guessing it's "Du Barry Was A Lady".  The director was Roy Del Ruth.  He probably wanted it in color to show the red hair of Lucille Ball and Red Skelton.  This may have been the first movie where Lucy had red hair.

  12. Mary La Roche was the mother in that memorable "Twilight Zone" episode called "Living Doll" where a child's doll says things like "I'm going to kill you" to the child's step-father, Telly Savalas.
