A young boy who tells tall tales witnesses his neighbors committing a murder, but no one believes his story, except, of course, the murderous neighbors.

Is it "The Quiet Man"?
-
It was sung by a well known comedy team.

You are correct, Bagel. Only a few kinescopes remain from the original "Mama" series. Here is one featuring Dick Van Patten.
Bagel, you are up next.

All terrific so far, although the fellow in the middle in "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon" is not Wayne Morris. This guy later won an Oscar for a Peter Bogdanovich film.
What about #1 and #10? #10 was just shown on TCM within the last week.

No one has posted lately, so I'll jump in.
Here are cast photos from some well known films. In each case, can you identify all of the people pictured as well as the name of the movie?

"In the pale moonshine our hearts entwine,
Where you carved your name and I carved mine." -
That's "Baby Mine" from Disney's 1941 movie "Dumbo". The music is by Frank Churchill and the lyrics are by Ned Washington. Here it is:
The voice is that of Betty Noyes, a professional voice-over artist. It's her voice you heard in "Singin' In The Rain" when Debbie Reynolds was dubbing the singing voice of Jean Hagen for the song "Would You".

Well, that didn't take long. I thought that the "Kid Millions" movie might be tough to find, but I should have known that Princess would know it.
Good work as usual, Princess. Now, the thread goes back to you.

A successful Broadway play was adapted as a movie in the forties. In the fifties, that same play was adapted as a television series. It was a sort of comedy/drama about a family and it was very popular. So popular, in fact, that when it was announced that it was to be canceled, enough viewers protested so that the show was brought back for one more season. The young actor who played the family's son in that series would much later play the father of a family in another popular comedy/drama series. Can you name that actor and the two TV series that he was featured in?

Ethel Merman had great success on Broadway starring in "Annie Get Your Gun" with music by Irving Berlin. However, as was the case with so many musicals adapted from Broadway shows, she did not appear in the movie version. But Ethel still got to appear in a number of movies where she sang Irving Berlin songs. I believe there were four such movies. Can you name all four?

It's been a few days, so I'll try to finish this question.
#3 d-Con
#5 Viceroy Cigarettes - Yvonne Crag before she was Batgirl. That's right!
#12 Ford Cars - That's Rod Serling in this commercial.
#13 Shell Oil - That's Richard Basehart. He was Shell's "Answer Man".
#14. U.S. Department Of Labor - The Cast Of "Batman". That's the only choice left. Yvonne Craig is now Batgirl in the Public Service Announcement. Here she campaigns for equal pay for women.
I believe that wraps up the question. I'm a bit disappointed that no one else jumped in to answer any. The research was certainly not difficult. Let's hope that we get more participation in the upcoming questions.

It sure sounds like "Hello, Dolly!". The 1969 movie was made by 20th Century-Fox and was directed by Gene Kelly. Michael Kidd was the choreographer and Lennie Hayton was the conductor. The original Broadway show was directed and choreographed by Gower Champion.

Yes, "Gigi" had been a non-musical Broadway play that opened in 1951 and it starred a young Audrey Hepburn in the title role.
Oscar winners "West Side Story", "My Fair Lady', "The Sound Of Music", "Oliver", and "Chicago" were all adaptations of Broadway musicals.
Other Oscar winners "The Broadway Melody", "The Great Ziegfeld", "Going My Way", "An American In Paris", and "The Artist" were written directly for the screen.
Nice work, Princess. You're up next.

Yes, #4 is from "Carefree". Thanks to all who answered. We need some help in the "Retro Trivia" thread, so if you would all kindly do your best Fred Astaire impersonation and dance right over there, maybe we could get that thread moving again.
In this one, the first six photos were with Ginger Rogers.
#1 Swing Time - This is the scene where Fred pretends not to know how to dance, so that Ginger can teach him. They sing and dance to "Pick Yourself Up".
#2 Follow The Fleet - This is the "Let's Face The Music And Dance" number.
#3 Top Hat - Ginger is wearing the famous feathered gown for the "Dancing Cheek To Cheek" number.
#4 Carefree - As Princess noted, they are dancing to "The Yam".
#5 The Gay Divorcee - Fred had been in "The Gay Divorce" on Broadway with music by Cole Porter. The only Porter tune that was kept in the movie version was "Night And Day", which they are dancing to in this photo.
#6 Shall We Dance - The title song is the final dance in the movie with a whole lot of chorus girls holding Ginger masks in front of their faces until Fred pulls them all away and finds the real Ginger.
Lavender doesn't post photos, so SummerStars, you get to go next.

Yes, but the movie was adapted from the Broadway musical "My Fair Lady". Just like "Oliver" is from Dickens' "Oliver Twist", but the movie is still an adaptation of a Broadway musical. My questioned is still unanswered.
What Best Picture Oscar winner was a musical adaptation of a non-musical Broadway play? That is, the story never had music in it's Broadway run.
-
Several Best Picture Oscar winners have been musicals. Some, like 1951's "An American In Paris" were written directly for the screen. Others, like 1961's "West Side Story" were film adaptations of Broadway musicals. I believe that only one Best Picture Oscar winner was a musical adaptation of a non-musical Broadway play. Can you name that movie?
-
Very good everyone, but #4 is not from "Flying Down To Rio". In this photo, Fred And Ginger are at a county club dance.
Here's another one from the same movie.
Music was by Irving Berlin.
Anyone care to make another guess?
