  1. The last clue did it for me, although I should have gotten it earlier.

Now, a movie star was secretly married but her husband was killed shortly after the wedding.  Now, she finds herself pregnant, so to avoid a scandal, she moves back to her hometown to have the baby, using the excuse that she is going into seclusion to prepare for her next movie role.  She plans to adopt the baby later.  She asks her former sweetheart, who still lives in the town, to help with the baby when it is born, but the baby becomes three babies, because she gives birth to triplets.

  2. Gene Hackman was the first choice to play Mike Brady on "The Brady Bunch".  Hackman won the best actor Oscar for "The French Connection" and the best supporting actor Oscar for "Unforgiven".  The role of Mike Brady eventually went to Robert Reed.

  3. Diahann Carroll

  4. Yes, Princess.  Sally Field's mother, Margaret Field, was an actress as well.  The boy pictured is Sally's brother Richard Field.  The Ritz brothers, Harry, Al, and Jimmy, came along at a time when the Marx brothers and Three Stooges were popular, and they paled by comparison.  They starred in "The Three Musketeers" with Don Ameche.

    The thread is open.

  5. No more guesses?

The man in #1 starred in a TV western series in the 1950's.  He later played Tarzan in some sixties movies.  He was the stepfather of the little girl in the photo.  She would grow up to win two best actress Oscars.

The three men in #5 were comic actors.  Their version of "The Three Musketeers" was a comedy.

  6. Very ambitious thread, Shutoo.  It may take a while to get them all answered.  I'll start off with a couple.

#5a is Tim Matheson and #5b is Kevin Kline.  Debbie Reynolds played Matheson's mother in "Divorce, American Style" and she played Kline's mother in "In & Out".

#7a is Barbra Streisand and #7b is Dick Van Dyke.  Maureen Stapleton played Barbra's mother in "Nuts!" and she played Dick's mother in "Bye Bye Birdie".

  9. All correct so far, Lavender.  Bill Williams and Barbara Hale also had an older daughter, Jodie.

In #4, I believe that's Rosemary on the left and Lola in the middle.

Here's a hint for #1:  The young girl would go on to become an Oscar winner as an adult.  The man starred in a western TV series.

Here's a hint for #5:  These guys appeared in a version of "The Three Musketeers".

  11. Do you know me?  I come from a show business family.  My father was an actor and my siblings and I went into acting.   I had a troubled childhood.  My parents divorced when I was young and a brother and I were raised by our maternal grandmother.  I developed a musical talent and with the help of my older half-brother, I began working on Broadway in a musical.  I had an affair with an actress in the cast that produced a daughter, who is now an actress.  I was only in my early twenties when I started working in movies.  Within a few years I got to sing a song that I had composed in a movie.  The song won an Oscar.

After a few more years of making movies, I alternated between theatrical films and made for TV movies, once playing a one-armed baseball player.  I also found time to star in a musical on Broadway.  In more recent years, I have had recurring roles in TV series, both network and on cable.

    Do you know me?

  12. Is it Richard Crenna?  Your giveaway clue about repeating the radio role on television had me thinking of Gale Gordon from "Our Miss Brooks", but the other clues didn't fit.  Then I remembered reading that Richard Crenna had played a high school student on the show both during the radio series and TV.  He was also in "The Real McCoys" and "Slattery's People" on TV.  The thriller would be "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn.  Of course, he was known for the "Rambo" movies, as well as many other movies, both theatrical and made for TV.

  13. Let's see now - Verge + In + Ya + Gill + More = Virginia Gilmore, who was once married to Yul Brynner.

Next is a name you don't forget:

If you follow my other recent posts in "Games And Trivia", then one of these clues is a giveaway.

  14.  Yes, people remember Arthur Godfrey for his TV variety and game shows, but he also recorded songs from time to time.

"The Too Fat Polka" was also recorded by Frankie Yankovic.

Once again, Lavender, you get the thread.

  15. Yes, it starred Alan Ladd and Carolyn Jones.  It was directed by famed director Michael Curtiz and was filmed in and around Woodstock and Thompson, Connecticut, which are in the northeast corner of the state.  The movie was in black and white, but the house that served as Alan Ladd's home in the film has traditionally been painted pink.  It is a historic home in Woodstock, known as Roseland Cottage and is famous for it's rose gardens.

The shades of pink have changed over the years.  If you are ever in that area, it's open for tours from June to October.

Nice job, Lavender.  It's your turn next.

  16. A graphic artist who is tired of the big city rat race, moves with his wife to an affluent suburb.  He just wants to paint pictures of landscapes.  She likes the high life of the city.  At a cocktail party hosted by their new neighbors, she gets drunk and gets into a terrible argument with him.  Shortly thereafter she disappears and the townsfolk suspect that he did away with her.
