  1. An actress who appeared in movies in the 1930's, including once playing Fred Astaire's fiance, reappeared years later on television in the fifties in a series of commercials for a well known company. Can you name this actress as well as the company whose products she endorsed? She later became New York City's Director Of Consumer Affairs.
  2. Could it be "The Rogues"? It was only on for one season in the sixties. It was about a family of con artists from both sides of the Atlantic. It featured Gig Young, David Niven, Charles Boyer, Gladys Cooper, and Robert Coote.
  3. Mike + Maze + Hur + Key =Mike Mazurki Next: Horse Mentioned In "The Music Man" Was _______ Patch + French Film "Claire's ________" + Swedish Film "____ Am Curious __________"
  4. Did it have rotating stars like "The Name Of The Game", or "Maverick"? Those two shows, of course, were not short-lived.
  5. She was a stage actress when they were first married. When she became a movie actress, she often played wealthy, high society types. In the 1950's, she appeared on many TV shows. In the sixties, she became a regular on a popular comedy series. He was a major character actor for many years. He played crooked lawyers, crime bosses, and con men. He was quite versatile. He also played businessmen, judges, and politicians. One of his best known roles was as a legendary frontiersman. Their marriage was the first for each. He would be married three more times. She would not be married again, although she was engaged to another actor when that actor was killed in a car accident. Do you know them?
  6. I've been away for a few days and now I'm back. I see that nothing new has transpired with this thread, so I'll end it. #6 is Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion from "Daktari" #13 Target was Annie Oakley's horse in the western series of the same name #15 White Shadow was a white German Shepherd dog in a "Mickey Mouse Club" serial called "Corky And White Shadow". It starred mousketeer Darlene Gillespie. It was identified by Lavenderblue in another thread. Lavenderblue gets to go next.
  7. Could it be Fred MacMurray and June Haver?
  8. Yes, Aristotle and Kitty Kat were family pets of The Addams Family and Daisy was the Bumstead's dog in the Blondie series. What's left? #6 Clarence had some vision problems. He appeared in a series with Marshall Thompson. #13 Target appeared with Gail Davis in her western series. He literally supported her. It was probably the first western series with a female leading character. #15 White Shadow was identified in a question of mine in another thread, very recently. I can't give any more clues without giving away the answers.
  9. You got it, Lav. It was a serial on "The Mickey Mouse Club". Buddy's character was named Matthew Brady. It's your turn next.
  10. All correct so far. This question has been up long enough. #21 is Ray McDonald. Here he is in a short clip: #22 is Peggy Ryan. Here she is in a clip without her usual partner, Donald O'Connor: When I first saw that clip, I thought it might be the Princess Of Tap back in high school. I'll leave the thread open for now.
  11. Pretty close. It's "Sioux City Sue". Here is Gene Autry: It was the title song of a 1946 movie that Gene starred in. It became a big hit song for Gene and Bing Crosby, Starliteyes, You're up next.
  12. Minerva is correct, Lav. We still need to identify: #1 Aristotle #6 Clarence #8 Daisy #10 Kitty Kat #13 Target #15 White Shadow
  13. 100% correct, Lavender. Teresa Wright's leading man in "Casanova Brown" was Gary Cooper. She had already played his wife in "Pride Of The Yankees" (1942), where he portrayed Lou Gehrig. Good work, Lavender. It's your thread now.
  14. Does this question sound familiar? It should. It was posted by Lavenderblue recently and the answer was Jessie Royce Landis and Grace Kelly. Well, there is another pair of actresses that fit this question. This time, the Hitchcock movie was not the first time they had worked together. Can you name the two actresses and the movies they made together?
  15. More hints: #12 was in a fifties sitcom about a teacher. #13 belonged to the female star of a fifties western series. Any more guesses?
  16. What, no more guesses? #13 once danced on a giant typewriter with Ruby Keeler. #21 was a fine young song and dance man in the MGM backyard musicals of the early forties. #22 was part of the Jivin' Jacks And Jills at Universal in the forties. She frequently danced with Donald O'Connor. #23 was a ballet dancer who was in movies with Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby.
  17. A key prop, if you'll pardon the expression, was a key to the wine cellar in Claude Rains' mansion in "Notorious". I believe that Cary Grant took the key and gave it to Ingrid Bergman. Years later, Ingrid gave the key to Alfred Hitchcock.
  18. Here is my final hint: The song is about a girl from Iowa. "Your hair is red, Your eyes are blue, I'd swap my horse and dog for you"
  19. Let's see now, Ricardo + Motel + Bon must mean Ricardo Montalban! Next: In "South Pacific", One Of The Sailors Is Nicknamed "______ Pot" + TV Host Who Wrote A Book Called "Kids Say The Darndest Things" + Tony The Tiger Told Us That His Cereal Was ___-EAT + In The Fifties, The Host Of "Death Valley Days" Was "The Old _________"
  20. All correct so far, Lav, although technically Cleo was a Basset Hound. Here are some hints: #1 and #10 were on the same show as family pets. Well, sort of. If you solved my latest question about Buddy Ebsen in "General Trivia", then you got the answer to another of these animals. #6 had been the title character in a feature film. He then was featured in a TV series which was derived from that movie.
  21. Actually, they were in seven movies together. Now, before he was Barnaby Jones and Jed Clampett, Buddy Ebsen appeared in a made for TV serial playing the father of the serial's young star. He played a sheriff whose name was the same as a famous photographer, even though the story had nothing to do with the photographer. Can you name the serial and the youngster who played the star?
  22. It is the title song of a 1940's movie that starred Gene Autry. The song was also a big hit for Bing Crosby.
  23. The woman with Joe E. Brown in #5 is a comedienne named Marjorie White. In #7, I'm not sure of the woman on the left. It may be Claudia Craddock, who is listed in the cast list . I can't find a photo of her. The boy is Jackie Searle again. This photo was probably taken about two years after the other one of him. The woman next to Alison Skipworth is indeed familiar. That's Ethel Griffies. She played the bird expert in the restaurant in Hitchcock's "The Birds". Do you remember her now?
  24. #8 is from "Sky Bride". The boy is Robert Coogan, Jackie Coogan's little brother. He played Sooky in both "Skippy" and the follow-up "Sooky" in the early 30's. #9 is Jackie Searle. He was also in both "Skippy" and "Sooky". He generally played brats, as he did when he played Sidney Sawyer, Tom Sawyer's cousin, in early thirties versions of both "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" with Jackie Coogan. I believe the man in #11 is a character actor named Harry Beresford.
