I agree, it is hilarious. I would have made one change, however. Near the end when they are looking into the hole where the money was buried, I would have had Mickey Rooney next to Spencer Tracy. Mickey then would have said "You know, you remind me of a priest I used to know".
Actually, with all of those comedians in the movie, I'm a little surprised that they got Spencer Tracy to play the cop. It's true that he was a fine actor and could do comedy, but he was known as a dramatic actor. Maybe Bob Hope wasn't available.

The first thing that comes to mind is the theme from "High Noon". I always knew it as "Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darling", but I find that the official name is "The Ballad Of High Noon". It was sung over the opening credits by western star and singer Tex Ritter, who was the father of actor John Ritter. John was best known or his TV work in "Three's Company" and a couple of other series.

Very good, Lavender. The story was set and filmed in Santa Rosa, California. It was the hometown of Edna Mae Wonacott, who played young Ann Newton. She was discovered by Hitchcock when he was there scouting out shooting locations. Santa Rosa was one of the towns that was devastated by wildfires just last year. I came up with these questions from memory, so I can't verify all of the answers, but I think that Emma and Charles had formerly lived in Elmira, New York. All of the other answers are correct.

You are correct, Lavender. When "The Bishop's Wife" was shown on TCM shortly before last Christmas, the guest programmer commented that when Karolyn Grimes threw that snowball at Bobby Anderson, she was, in a sense, throwing it at her own father.

I'm thinking it might be "It Takes A Thief". It starred Robert Wagner as Alexander Mundy, a cat burglar employed by the U.S. government as an espionage agent. It was only on for two years, and in the second season, Fred Astaire appeared in some episodes as Alexander's father, Alistair Mundy. Wagner's character was probably based on Cary Grant's character in Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief". In later years, Wagner had other successful TV series like "Hart To Hart" and "Switch".

"Mary Rose" is a play by J.M. Barrie, who is best known for writing "Peter Pan". Alfred Hitchcock saw a production of it in the early 1920's. Later, he decided that he would like to make a film version of it, but it never happened. Here is what Wikipedia says about the play:
This is the fictional story of Mary Rose, a girl who vanishes twice. As a child, Mary Rose was taken by her father to a remote Scottish island. While she is briefly out of her father's sight, Mary Rose vanishes. The entire island is searched exhaustively. Twenty-one days later, Mary Rose reappears as mysteriously as she disappeared…but she shows no effects of having been gone for three weeks, and she has no knowledge of any gap or missing time.
Years later, as a young wife and mother, the adult Mary Rose persuades her husband to take her to the same island. Again she vanishes: this time for a period of decades. When she is found again, she is not a single day older and has no awareness of the passage of time. In the interim, her son has grown to adulthood and is now physically older than his mother.
The BBC did a production of it in 1987 and it starred Amanda Root. Here it is:

In my opinion, this would not have been a good movie for Hitchcock. It's more like an elongated version of a "Twilight Zone" episode.

A youngster played the male lead's role as a boy at the beginning of a movie. Later in the film, years have gone by and that role is now played by the male star of the movie. His character is married to the female star and they have several children, one of whom is a cute little blonde girl.
A year or so later, that same little girl was in another movie, playing the child of the movie's stars. In a winter scene, some kids are playing in the snow and she throws a snowball at a boy. That boy was played by the same young actor who played her father as a boy in the previous movie.
Can you name both movies, as well as the boy and young girl?

#6 is the Harold Lloyd short "Get Out And Get Under" from 1920. He rushes to the church to try to stop a wedding. The bride and groom in the front are Mildred Davis (Harold's real life wife), and Fred McPherson.
