Two actors, who both would become major TV western stars, appeared together in a western movie fairly early in their respective careers. The two leading ladies in the movie were two well known musical stars, one from Broadway and one from movies. Can you name the movie as well as the men and women that I referred to? It was a 1950's movie.

Yes, and she was in "The Bishop's Wife" with Loretta Young, David Niven, and Cary Grant. This kid certainly got to work with some "A" listers.
Here she is in "Rio Grande" with Ben Johnson. She played one of a group of children who are captured by Indians. John Wayne and his cavalry troop rescue them.
Here she is in "The Bishops wife" with Cary Grant, Sara Haden, Loretta Young, and David Niven.

With Bing in "Blue Skies"
With James Stewart in her best known role in "It's A Wonderful Life"
And here she is reunited with her "Wonderful Life" dad, Jimmy Stewart.
Nice job, Lavender. I'll be back later with something else.

Buster Keaton - completely different clues from the ones I used in the initial post in this thread. It just goes to show that you can be as creative as you like in this thread.

Now , Who is the little girl in these photos?
Here she is with Gabby Hayes.
And here she is with Bing Crosby.
She has been seen on TCM recently.

There were apparently several actors who fit the initial clues, but if the 50's film has something in common with "Godzilla' and "War Of The Worlds", then it is probably a science fiction movie. An early 50's sci-fi film that comes to mind is "The Day The Earth Stood Still", which starred British actor Michael Rennie and was nominated for a Golden Globe. In 1959 he starred in a TV series called "The Third Man". About the only thing that the TV series had in common with the 1949 movie of the same name was the title and the name of Rennie's character, Harry Lime. He played an art dealer who solved crimes. The show was on for one season, then off for a couple of years, then on again from 1962 to 1965.

Princess, I could never forget you. I've had some internet problems. It has been extremely slow lately.
Judy sang "Singin' In The Rain" with the verse included in "Little Nellie Kelly". Here she is:
Here are the complete lyrics:
Judy Garland – Singin' In The Rain Lyrics
Have you ever suffered that horrible thing
Of having your hostess ask you to sing
And just because you're so polite
You mumble through your teeth, all right
And suddenly a deathly gloom
Descends upon the entire room
And the whispering gallery starts to ring
With - hold your hats, she's gonna sing
Well, here I am with great regret
An innocent victim of etiquette
I'm going to sing but not for long
And though it's old, it's a lovely song
Why am I smiling and why do I sing
Why does September seem sunny as Spring
Why do I get up each morning and start
Happy and head up with joy in my heart
Why is each new task a trifle to do
Because I am living a life full of you
I'm singin' in the rain, just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again
I'm laughin' at clouds, so dark up above
The sun's in my heart and I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase everyone from the place
Come out with the rain, I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane with a happy refrain
And singing, just singin' in the rain
I'm singin' in the rain, oh I'm singin' in the rain
What a glor, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again
I'm laughin' at clouds, so dark up above
The sun's - in -my - heart, I'm gettin' ready for love
The stormy clouds chase everyone from the place
And come out with the rain, I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane with a happy refrain
And singin', singin'...
Singin' in the rain, oh I'm singin' in the rain
I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I'm happy again
My troubles have fled, a rainbows ahead
I'm singin', singin', I'm singin' in the rain...Songwriters: Arthur Freed, Nacio Herb BrownGood job as always, Princess. Now it's your turn.

Raymond Burr, the star of "Perry Mason", had been the star, at least the American star, of a 50's movie called "Godzilla".

You don't hear this part of a well known song very often.
Why am I smiling and why do I sing
Why does September seem sunny as Spring
Why do I get up each morning and start
Happy and head up with joy in my heart-

You are correct, Princess. "Girl Crazy" was Ethel Merman's first Broadway Show. Ginger Rogers was only about nineteen when she appeared in it, Ginger played a character name Sally Gray. When they made the movie, Judy's character was named Ginger Gray. Here is Judy singing "Embraceable You":
Good work, Princess. Now it's your turn.

It's "When I look At You". It was sung by Judy Garland in "Presenting Lily Mars". Here she is:
You may have noticed Bob Crosby and his orchestra, as well as Van Heflin and Richard Carlson.

You are correct, Lavender. Apparently, the producers of "Hello Dolly" were upset that Jerry Herman didn't write a brand new song for the movie. Here it is:
Nice job, Lav. You're up next.
-
When the movie version of "Hello Dolly" was about to be made, the producers asked the show's composer, Jerry Herman, to give them a new song, one that had not been in the original show. They wanted to have a candidate for the Oscar for Best Original Song. However. the song that he gave them was not eligible for the Oscar. Can you tell us the name of that song, as well as the reason that it was not Oscar eligible?

Yes, that's the one. I thought someone might get it, but I also thought it would take a bit longer. I must be losing my touch.
Really nice work, Starlit. The thread is now yours.
