Not meaning to be too picky, but to be accurate, COPPER CANYON is a Paramount Picture, not Universal.

It most certainly positively and definitely is.
There has been no authorized video or DVD release of CALL HER SAVAGE.

The Bowery Boys movies are not gone. They will be returning in March and April.

Good ol' Gwynplaine could write so well about a lost film that he'd have you believing he'd seen it, and would sometimes even refer vaguely to where he claimed to have seen the print, but as far as I know he didn't claim to have all the lost & rare stuff himself.

THE LOST WEEKEND inspired a lot of spoofs and references. One of my favorites was in the 1947 WB cartoon SLICK HARE.
Here's a listing of others, including the one from MY FAVORITE BRUNETTE:

>
That misspelling was the fault of the reissue company Film Classics. When they reissued the films in the 1940's and replaced the original titles & credits they misspelled Raguse's name on several films. They also carelessly and disgracefully mangled many other names and even some of the film titles!
Some I know have a sort of a nostalgic fondness for the "Film Classics Plaque" titles on the Roach films, but I am delighted to see the original title & credits restored on so many of them.

Thanks for the info.
His real name being Reginald Alfred John Truscott-Jones, I wonder if anyone ever shortened it and called him Spike Jones. No, I didn't think so!
-
Yes, thanks TCM programmers for starting to list them again.

Where did you get that from?
I have NEVER seen or heard of him called that.

Yes, thanks TCM programmers for starting to list them again.

>
Explained very simply, what happened was this:
The midnight movie was found to be longer than originally thought. So TCM had to adjust the starting times of the movies that followed it. That meant unfortunately that something had to give, as they say. THE SPY IN BLACK was chosen as the movie to be dropped and replaced with a shorter one in order for all the starting times of Monday's movies to be on-schedule.

I'm sure that one is from BROADWAY SCANDALS from the number C-30. Stills from BATTLE OF THE SEXES have the number DWG-1400. But I suppose you never know...she could have worn the same outfit in both movies. It has happened.
I saw SLIDE KELLY SLIDE way back on Feb. 9, 1998 at The Film Forum in NYC as part of a William Haines series. I don't think it has been on TCM, has it? I really should remember. I would like to see it again.

It's actually not the complete soundtrack, just the musical highlights, Lawrence Tibbett's songs and the Laurel & Hardy scenes. It's on a label called Pelican Records.

Thanks for the lovely picture of Sally O'Neil.
That is from the 1929 Columbia picture BROADWAY SCANDALS.
If you have any more pictures of Sally, don't hesitate to post them!

Here's a version you may not have heard:
(Never mind the visuals here, it's the audio that's rare).

Thanks...
I was trying to think of something clever and relevant to say about it.
Good one!

Stan first puts the pineapples on a chair, where of course Ollie sits on them, after which Ollie moves them to the tabletop.

More fun trivia:
Did you notice in that scene in the newspaper a picture of Thelma Todd and Patsy Kelly in costume for their short AIR FRIGHT, released just a few days before SONS OF THE DESERT?

Sorry to be picky, but I've made a point to correct this minor error whenever I see it.
It was a warehouse not a vault.

Complainers:
Okay, would you rather it have gone like this:
TCM previews the print.
"Oh no, we're going to get complaints on this one. We know MCA sends us the best prints they can, but just to be sure let's ask again."
TCM calls MCA.
"Hey we realize you guys do the best you can. But we got complainers and you know how they can be. By any chance do you have a better print of LUCKY JORDAN?"
MCA:
"No, that's the best we have for now. That's why that's the copy we sent you."
TCM:
"We know...just checking. How long till you can send us a better copy?"
MCA:
"Well you know how it is, with priorities and budgets and everything. It could take years. Maybe ten. Maybe more. And we can't guarantee anything."
TCM:
"Okay forget it. We won't run it at all."
Would that have been better?
I for one had no problem with the print. We've seen much worse. I hadn't seen the movie in many years and was able to appreciate that TCM and MCA do their best and was thankful to see it again.

Unlisted shorts on TCM, Friday, Jan. 28:
After THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER -
TravelTalks short. Missed the title, but probably the one about Budapest that usually follows this feature.
And -
Greta Garbo film festival promo.
After TO BE OR NOT TO BE -
Clip from THE DIVINE WOMAN (1928) lost Greta Garbo feature.
Unlisted short following THE MERRY WIDOW on Friday evening:
HOW I PLAY GOLF no. 2 - CHIP SHOTS (1931) - Vitaphone.
Shown, for some reason, without any main titles.

Has anyone else noticed that on TCM's Home Page in their Ernest Borgnine promo they misspell his name ("Borgine") in the 2009 Private Screenings reference?

Yes, very much!
Please, TCM, bring us the rest of these shows!

That Film Forum series ("Fox Before the Code") was from December 2006. I was there for some of those shows. But there are still several they showed then that I couldn't get to, and have still never seen anywhere else. I agree it would be so great if Fox would release a lot of these on DVD or if Fox Movie Channel would run them.
