  1. "Dizzy" and "Dopey" (names given to Laurel & Hardy by Rychard Cramer in "Saps at Sea", 1940).
  2. McGowan, Robert (director of Our Gang comedies)
  3. Footlight Glamour (1943 Blondie movie)
  4. "Never Say Goodbye" (1956) does sound like the movie you're asking about. But you might also want to check out the earlier movie it's a remake of: "This Love of Ours" (1945). The stars of this version were Merle Oberon, Charles Korvin, Claude Rains, and Sue England. They're both Universal Pictures.
  5. Charley and Doodles are WEAVER (Love Doodles' "Day With Doodles" comedies!) Next: Susan, Mary, Gavin, and C. Henry
  6. You're right. They did say they'd reschedule it. It's about time... How about it, TCM? Just reminding you!
  7. Bud Jamison (great supporting player in hundreds of silent and sound comedies).
  8. coopsgirl: You mentioned the 1931 Gary Cooper feature "I Take This Woman" and said that it may be one that we never see. I have seen it, so it is around. I saw it at The Film Forum in New York a few years ago. It was a nice 35mm print. Not sure where they got the print from: Paramount, Universal, or the author's family. The situation about the ownership and how rare it is was explained in the program notes. With two major stars: Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard in it, one would think that somebody would want to arrange to make this movie available so everyone can finally get to see it.
  9. "Hot Spell" is a Paramount movie, and you know TCM can't get and show everything. But maybe they'll run it. Just gotta keep watching for it.
  10. Utopia (1951) - Laurel & Hardy's last movie.
  11. Sorry for the occasional same-letter post. I'm still having this frustrating site-freeze-up that can cause my posts to not show up for several minutes...sometimes after someone else has already posted a name.
  12. Edwards, Cliff (multi-talented actor, musician, singer).
  13. CelluloidKid: That sounds like an interesting book. I am very much interested in learning more about a Dutch actress named Truus van Aalten who worked in German films from 1926 to 1939. I'm wondering if this book has any references to her at all. Her career was cut short by the Nazis when she refused to make propaganda films for them, and unfortunately she couldn't get back into the business after the end of the war. In countries like England it was held against her that she had worked in Germany in the 1930's when she had actually given up her career NOT to cooperate with the Nazis. While not a "superstar" in German films, she was quite popular there especially in the late 1920's to mid 1930's. So I was curious whether or not this new book would be worth my checking out for info on Truus. You can find out more about her here: http://www.truusvanaalten.com/index.php?obj=1189677260 Thanks!
  14. Hatley, Marvin (Oscar-nominated composer at Hal Roach Studios.)
  15. Also in 1942 Clark Gable left MGM...for a few years anyway. But at least in 1942 Tracy & Hepburn got together.
  16. Zelaya, Don (actor and musician. Very funny role in 1942 Three Stooges short "What's the Matador?")
