Is she Sally Eilers? -
Lots of time after "Night of the Hunter" tonight with no short scheduled...tune in, maybe they'll run another Van Dine short unannounced. .

OCTOBER SCHEDULE IS UP!!
musicalnovelty replied to HollywoodGolightly's topic in General Discussions
Yes they ran "Black Moon" back in 1994 and my old tape of it still looks great. But it's about time it came on again! -
ZaSu Pitts Biography to be released this Fall!
musicalnovelty replied to zasupittsfan's topic in General Discussions
If we could have ZaSu as Star of the Month then maybe TCM would finally start showing her Hal Roach shorts with Thelma Todd again. And dare we even hope...maybe the extremely rare 1930's Universal features she made, many of which co-starred her with Slim Summerville. -
Yes that's one of my favorites too, but it's a Universal Picture, and TCM doesn't easily have access to all Universals. But it shouldn't really be hard to get. It's always been available to TV in Universal's horror packages (although as you poined out, it's really a comedy). But with that great cast (including Shemp Howard) TCM really should try to get it. By the way, it has an excellent music score, too! Here's more info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032637/combined Let's see this one on TCM soon, please!

I agree! ZaSu Pitts - Star of the Month!! -
Yes it was on at 12:30 P.M. eastern time, just as scheduled.

Thanks TCM for the three Lippert movies (directed by Samuel Fuller) shown recently, but don't forget there are hundreds more Lippert movies that have not been on TV in decades, if ever, that may not have a famous director. Let's see some of those! The three directed by Samuel Fuller seem to be the only Lippert movies ever shown on TV any more. .

They ran one unannounced after "The Thin Man" last week, too.

Yes July 10 will be the highlight of the month! Rare Columbia pre-codes! Even with the frustrating removal of "Deception" from the schedule this is still a great day of films! Thanks TCM! By the way, "The Final Edition" was shown once before on TCM, back on August 29, 1994. My old tape still looks great, but for those who may have missed it then it will be nice to see it on again. By the way, TCM please do try to get "Deception" scheduled again. More old Columbia movies please!

ZaSu Pitts Biography to be released this Fall!
musicalnovelty replied to zasupittsfan's topic in General Discussions
I am also looking forward to this new book on ZaSu. While we're waiting, I recommend her fans seek out her 1963 combination autobiography & candy cookbook "Candy Hits". ZaSu's own story, with many pictures, and candy recipes, too! -
Oh, that face, that fabulous face. Whose is it?
musicalnovelty replied to georgiegirl's topic in General Discussions
Looks like the recently departed Gale Storm. -
That movie sounds like "Five Million Years to Earth", also known as "Quatermass and the Pit" (British, 1967). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062168/combined

what actor died the same day as Elvis
musicalnovelty replied to sprig68's topic in General Discussions
I remember thinking it unfair at the time that Elvis' death got more coverage than Groucho's. Regarding recent celebrity deaths the most important to me by far is that of Bob Bogle (guitarist and founding member of The Ventures) on June 14. But how much media coverage is he getting? . -

musicalnovelty replied to georgiegirl's topic in General Discussions
Hey there Georgie Girl -- Good to see you here again. I, too am still having a lot of trouble posting, but am stubbornly not giving up. I've been keeping my posts short...sometimes that seems to help. Wish they could figure out & fix the problem. -
I will check to see what I can find out, but meanwhile here's a link to something that mentions one tune: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040746/soundtrack

This picture (Nils Asther and Greta Garbo posted back on June 16) was also used on the front of the 1991 MGM/UA video tape box for "The Single Standard". .

Any fans of the great Frank Morgan?
musicalnovelty replied to HollywoodGolightly's topic in Your Favorites
Frank Morgan fans (and aren't we all?) should check out the 1946 MGM feature "The Great Morgan". TCM hasn't shown it for a long time, so let's hope to see it again soon. .
