  1. I went to school with a Robert Osborn (no "e"). Nice guy, but no relation, I'm sure, to our favorite TCM host.
  2. (Duplicate post - I tried to delete it but couldn't make it go away). Edited by: musicalnovelty on Nov 6, 2013 8:19 AM
  3. >Where's Musicalnovelty? This gal worked for Hal Roach at one time. This should be a cinch for him. Just catching up to this one...yes of course, I'd have known Rosina Lawrence. In fact, I did know her. She was a good friend for the last 15 years of her life (1982 - 1997). A beautiful lady and a very nice person!
  4. She's Patti Cahoon. (Wasn't very familiar with her before, but saw her in something not too long ago and remembered her name.)
  5. That's Norman Foster. The movie mentioned with Ginger Rogers is RAFTER ROMANCE (1933). The photo below with the number 547 is from the 1931 MGM Picture MEN CALL IT LOVE. The one with Sally Eilers is from the 1933 Fox Picture STATE FAIR.
  6. No, not Bette Midler. Clues: They were in a 1930's movie, and belonged to an actress (not an actor). It's a movie that has never been shown on TCM.
  7. Good job, yes they're all names of dogs. But if I may drag this out a bit longer, whose dogs were they and in what movie were they featured?
  8. Okay, I'm up for a piece of cake: These are "Paramount's Future Starlets of 1934": Grace Bradley, Clara Lou Sheridan (soon to be Ann Sheridan) Gail Patrick, Katharine DeMille Gertrude Michael, Wendy Barrie
  9. Okay, I'll ask one: Here are some names. What / who are they? (What do they have in common?) Yorkshire Pudding Bumpe Wee Wong Chin Chin Gollywog Schnapps The Duke of Beverly Hills
  10. Columbia shorts on TCM (Jan. 7, 2014)! That's a first - hopefully more to come.
  11. Comic actor and musician Fuzzy Knight appeared in many westerns at Universal in the early 1940's. His scenes were often accompanied by a regular theme tune. What was Fuzzy's theme tune?
  12. > ...Classic Images. A marvelous monthly periodical for movie lovers of the golden age. ========================== My picture is in the October issue!
  13. Ginnyfan, I had the chance to meet and chat quite a bit recently with Margaret O'Brien, and although hers and Virginia Weidler's careers didn't overlap by much, I wanted (on your behalf) to ask her what, if anything, she remembered about Virginia. She said she really didn't get to know Virginia but of course, did know who she was and would hear about her occasionally over the years. But basically she had no new or interesting info - but I wanted you to know I asked!
  14. >...Rediscovered and restored 10 minute Mary Pickford film from 1911 "Their First Misunderstanding". This film was considered lost until rediscovered in a New Hampshire barn in 2006... >A film historian was called and eventually the Library Of Congress sponsored a restoration. The film will be have it's world premiere next Friday at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Going to the screening tonight in Keene, NH. Anyone else going?
  15. That sounds like GIRL GRIEF (1932).
  16. >Is this it? http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8405723 You may have to scroll down a few to see it. ========================= Yes, that's it! Posted back on May 23, 2010.
  17. Looks like nobody is going to get the answer to the previous Glenn Miller question, so here it is. The song is "People Like You and Me".
  18. gagman said... >...A while back someone posted the entire Axt-Mendoza scoring list, Every cue, in the Silents forum here. I will see if I can find it. ============================== That was me! But unfortunately I'm not sure now how to find where it was.
  19. Hey Soo, Just got the October issue of "Classic Images" and guess whose photos are in there - us! Do you get the publication, or able to see it anywhere?
  20. >It Started With Eve is a great Charles Laughton comedy, I've been waiting to see this one again for a long time. He and Deanna Durbin worked well together, Robert Cummings was pretty good as well. Delightful movie! Highly recommended.
  21. She's always been one of my favorties: Diana Barrymore. Two of her best were BETWEEN US GIRLS (1942) a delightful comedy similar to THE MAJOR AND THE MINOR, but which came out first (just barely) but is almost never mentioned anymore while the Ginger Rogers film is the one everyone remembers. Also NIGHTMARE (1942) a very good WW2 spy drama showed Diana did have some acting talent instead of being just a famous name. If her main six movies were not Universal Pictures maybe we'd be seeing them regularly on TCM and she'd be better known and appreciated.
