But I guess I just wanted to sort of "catch up" as for some frustrating but unknown reason I've been unable to log on to the TCM Boards for the last week until somehow I got back on this morning. So I didn't get the chance to name Lowell Sherman or Vladimir Sokoloff while I was unable to log in. I'm just hoping whatever the problem was will not happen again and I'll be stuck just reading but not posting.
  3. Eddie Borden and Porter Hall
  4. 5) Because of the success of the movie some early 1930's records of "As Time Goes By" were reissued in 1943. (I have the 78 of the Jacques Renard Orchestra's version, originally from 1931 on Brunswick, reissued in 1943 on Decca).
  5. 3) Some people claim that Jack Benny makes a cameo appearance in the movie. (I don't agree).

  7. For some unknown but frustrating reason I have been unable to log on the TCM Boards for the last week, but somehow got on this morning. I also have to say you've been a class act all the way and if you're "hanging up your guns" for any period of time, I hope it's short. Thanks for all the images and words!
  8. Dickie Goodman is best known for his comedy "break-in" records, but he sang sometimes, too. Here's one from 1961 about Horror Movies, appropriate for Halloween: And another for Halloween and for Beatles fans too: On the above the YouTube poster misspelled the name "Frankenstein" and in a way, the name "Beatles" too. I have this original 45 and on the label it is spelled "Beetles" (Intentionally, I assume).

I purchased the LP way back then because I'd heard the song on the radio but the 45 was an edited version and I needed to get the LP to get the long version. I admit I haven't played the album in decades but I remember that the rest of it was good, too.
  10. > {quote:title=finance wrote: > }{quote}Would Tab Hunter occur to you? Probably not.
  11. > {quote:title=Swithin wrote:}{quote} > Hats off to whoever scheduled the Huggett trilogy..... There are actually four movies in the Huggetts series, not three. The first, HOLIDAY CAMP (1947) does not have the name Huggetts in the title and is the only one of the series that does not feature Petula Clark. But it is scheduled on TCM in January along with the other three. I am also very much looking forward to them. Thanks for these, TCM!
  12. > {quote:title=JonnyGeetar wrote:}{quote}...When the film is in color? And very good color too- really well done photgraphy which -besides Marilyn- its pretty much all the film has going for it. > > (I think someone else has asked this before.) I think we can assume the original trailer wasn't deliberately printed in B & W, but that for some reason the print provided to TCM was not in color.
  13. > {quote:title=EveCairo wrote: > }{quote}I actually thought the montage for October was really great..... > And the music was great. > What was the song? That song is called "Saw You First" by a group called Givers. More info about it here: http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=162029&tstart=30
  14. Reminder: Several episodes are coming up on TCM, Nov. 3 & 8.
  15. > {quote:title=mongo wrote: > }{quote}HAPPY BIRTHDAY Also celebrating a birthday November 1 is former child star (Our Gang, etc.) JERRY TUCKER http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0875893/ A great guy and a good friend, he's hangin' in there doing well at age 86.
  16. > {quote:title=NormaShearerGirl wrote: > }{quote}In honor of TCM's Battle of the Blondes, who do you think is the sexiest blonde? > > In my opinion it's Jean Harlow hands down!!! In no particlular order, some of my favorites that TCM isn't featuring: Anny Ondra Alice White Marjorie White Lillian Miles Thelma Todd Ruth Taylor Adrienne Dore Dorothy Dell Sally Eilers Anne Gwynne Gloria Shea Edna Marion Charlotte Henry Marilyn Miller Ann Sothern Maxine Stone Rosina Lawrence Laura LaPlante Adele Mara Claire James Jean Arthur
  17. > {quote:title=finance wrote: > }{quote}Aren't any of you guys going to mention Troy Donahue? I think that if someone asked me to think of 1000 different actors or movie stars his name still would not occur to me.
  18. > {quote:title=mrroberts wrote: > }{quote}How about Barbara Stanwyck (she was a blonde, at least one time)? Or, her wig was!
  19. Hal Roach short coming up on TCM: Early Friday morning, Nov. 4, 2011 - THE TIN MAN (1935) starring Thelma Todd & Patsy Kelly.
  20. > {quote:title=markbeckuaf wrote: > }{quote}I'm totally grooving to William Hopper day!!! It's wonderful that TCM brings us films from lesser known actors, or actors known primarily for their work in other medium, such as William in his role as Paul Drake in the Perry Mason TV series! Wouldn't it have been a cool coincidence if, while at Warners in the 1930's William Hopper had appeared in some of the Perry Mason features Warners made at that time?
  21. Unlisted short - Wednesday morning at about 11:05 A.M. - THROTTLE PUSHERS (1933) - MGM.
  22. > {quote:title=clore wrote:.....}{quote} > They could schedule a Ben Welden or Joseph Crehan day also if it helps to get some of these rarely screened titles on the air. How about a Spec O'Donnell day? He's been in two of them so far today!
  23. > {quote:title=metz44 wrote: > }{quote}4 ACTRESSES THAT I DISLIKE FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER > SEE BOTH POSTINGS BELOW Well, two of them are Ilona Massey and Vera Ralston. The others are familiar-looking but I can't think of their names.
  24. > {quote:title=RayFaiola wrote: > }{quote}Well, this isn't the picture you're thinking of, but my favorite jigsaw puzzle picture is ME AND MY PAL with Laurel & Hardy! Another memorable jigsaw puzzle movie (although again, not the one the original poster is asking about) is DANCING LADY (1933) in which throughout the movie Larry Fine is working on a jigsaw puzzle of Adolf Hitler!
