Das Boot was a great film, depicting what life was like in a German U-boat. And you're right Since You Went Away was a good movie also. -

My 2 favorite war movies of all time are Sands of Iwo Jima and Midway. Simply because I love WW2 films. My dad was a WW2 veteran and I used to listen to his war stories. If there was ever a war that needed to be fought that was it.
