It will always be "Bart" the Bear for me. Fortunately, his wonderful trainer has a couple more bears working today, "Little Bart" and "Bump", who will live up to the original "Bart's" talents. Maybe there is even a third?
For Horses...I liked The Black Stallion very much. He did a hell of a lot more than run around a track in that movie, and that's not something you see a horse do on screen very much. Awesome Horse, and beautifully trained and ridden by Kelly Reno. I was also pretty fond of a Montana Horse named "Cisco" who was in "Dances with Wolves".
And, who couldn't love Babe, the Pig?

Coffeedan, you're another one! I love your Trivia thread, but wouldn't you please share your knowledge about when "sound" came along, and whatever else you can tell us about the transition between the Silent and Sound era's? I'd love to hear more about his from you! ML

"Celluloid"! I hadn't even considered that one yet! Thanks, Slappy.

The name of the movie is "Come Back Little Sheba" (1952).
The next soul who comes along and wants to start a new round may do so.

Mornin' Mongo. I'm really just about out of clues unless I totally give it away, but....
Clue # whatever: A lost 4-legged companion.
Now if this doesn't do it for someone out there, I give up.

Well, Antar...then maybe you'd like to tell us who these people are who have told you that the word "film" and thus the people who use it are pretentious. Or, maybe they'd like to step up and speak for themselves, seeing as how this has been brought to our Forums as an important issue for discussion now. ML

Hi Studiohistorian! You will make a wonderful addition to our Forums! Please share your knowledge of Motion Picture Studio's in America with us. Studio's during the reign of the Classics were much different than the Studio's of today. Please give us your thoughts about this.

What is really interesting to me about this site is that even though very recent films...oops...movies can be voted on, it's clear that it's still the Classics and the actors from that era that people want to see in the top portion of the total field. And, I think that's great!

Is anyone still willing to make a guess?
Clue #4: The young female border arouses passion in the man, and a maternal instinct in the woman.

I'll leave you with another clue, then I've got to split for awhile.
Clue #3: An aging childless couple.
Bonus: A room is rented in the house.
I'll come back later.

What does it even matter? Cinema is cinema is cinema! I've never used the term "film" so as to appear superior to anyone who uses the term "movie", and I find it very unfair for someone to put me down as being "pretentious" when I have said "film". What is that about? ML

It sounds like it might be "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948) with Barbara Stanwyck. Does this ring a bell? (Excuse the pun). ML

Nice try, Mongo...but not yet.
Clue #2: Lost dreams and failed ambitions.

Elvis "movies" have never expected anyone to take them as "seriously" as we do the "films" of broader artistic achievement. It's perfectly Ok for you to get a kick out of his movies, though, and I won't put you down for it. I just don't happen to care for Elvis, or his movies, even though most of my friends were swooning over him at the time he was all the rage after his appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. A bunch of us watched him together that night, in fact. There are lots of other "movies" that I do like very much...so please don't think that it's only "films" (when I use this word) that attracts me to the world of Cinema.

Thanks LTL...I will take the reins...but can only stay if someone solves this one quickly. My spine has just about had it with sitting in this chair for today.
Clue #1: A perceived "shotgun" marriage

One of the most beautiful versions of "Baby Mine" that I have (Bette Midler's version in "Beaches" is nice, too) is on a CD that I have called "The Best of Country Sings the Best of Disney"...and the only reason that I got it was because of "Baby Mine" as sung by Alison Krauss. I hope you can find and hear it someday.

Ok. I'm going to have to get real tough here and say that it's "Dances With Wolves" then. ML

Wow, Roldfilm...that is a wonderful quote to use here, and also a wonderful one to have committed to memory. Nicely done! You restore my faith.....

My second favorite John Wayne movie then..."The Searchers"?
-
Now, don't kill me...was it Marie Dressler?
Serious, you know how dearly I love her, but I couldn't resist. Maybe it was Clark Gable, though

Thanks for making these two additions today for us, Mongo. Both are very good actors, and both have a special place in my heart for quite different reasons.
Happy Birthday, fellows!

My favorite John Wayne movie, "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon"? ML

Yes indeed...show all of the Elvis movies, and show them repeatedly....on AMC! I realize, too, that we frequently have "special" programming on TCM, but please don't get too carried away with the Elvis movies. Ok?
