I'm like Helenbaby. I think Ava Gardner is the best reason to watch this movie. I've always found it strange that she was nominated for an Oscar for this. I think she deserved the nomination much more for "Show Boat", even though it was a supporting role.

Twinkee, you were asking about Pier Angeli. I believe she committed suicide. Such a tragedy for such a beautiful and talented actress. You mentioned that you were not familiar with her movies.
She made a lot of movies at MGM. One of the last movies that I remember of hers was "Sodom and Gomorrah" with Stewart Granger. I'm not sure what problems she had in her personal life, but they must have been more than she could bear. She also was the twin sister of Marisa Pavan.

Three cheers for the wonderful Allison Hayes! She died way too young! Why didn't she become a major star? She certainly had the talent, the looks, and the opportunities. I've enjoyed her in so many movies, in so many genres. I think she even had a stab at a television series, which I thought would change things for her. Well, that's Hollywood!
