One of the most moving performances of a person having a breakdown is Ronee Blakely in "Nashville." As many times as I have seen this movie, I'm always moved as she slowly loses control on stage. Not only did she deserve the Oscar nomination, but I really believed that she would win for that year. A great performance.

Stanwyck is nothing short of great in this. (But, then again, when is she not terrific?) This is one movie that she was dying to make, she loved the script so much. They made a remake a few years ago. It was a TV movie called "Mrs. Winterbourne." It was awful. They tried to make it into a comedy! So much for bad taste.

You all have come up with great suggestions for favorite MNtchum films. By far, my Number One

Favorite would be "Night of the Hunter." I'll always believe he was robbed of an Oscar nomination for this. Everybody in the cast is perfect, even Shelley Winters, who is definitely not one of my favorites. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure whether or not Sharon Stone would fit into this category, but I believe she has been in only one hit movie ("Basic Instict"). Even though she received an Oscar nomination for "Casino", the movie itself was not a big hit. And I realize she has made many mvoies, but they have not performed well at the box office. Or am I wrong?

Another movie that comes to mind in "Christmas in Connecticut". In the beginning, there's a Southern nurse that really has eyes for Dennis Morgan. Of course, that is before he meets Barbara Stanwyck!

Thanks to all of you for the vast amount of information on Tyrone Piwer. There are so many that are favorites of mine. And I'm glad someone noted the music from "Captain from Castile." This score by Alfred Newman is considered one of the all-time greats among film scores. As much as I love Mr. Newman's music, I put this one at the top of the list. Thanks again to all you Ty Power fans.
