  1. Watching After the Thin Man just now, Nick refers to a pair of eyeglasses as 'cheaters'. I had forgotten that one. Hmm.. cheaters. Origin refers back to the 1920's as slang for reading glasses.
  2. You asked for it Another WAMPAS Baby Star, her 1990 autobiography borrows the title of her most famous film and role - the leader of a high school athiest society which forces members to renounce The Bible while placing a hand on the head of a live monkey.

  11. She was one of the top stars at the newly formed M-G-M studios, later with Tiffany Pictures. Oh, and here's the best part.. she was a WAMPAS Girl

  13. The leading man for this film was not the studio's first choice. William Holden and Marlon Brando were being considered. The leading man was thought to have been too old and away from the screen for too long - although on stage, and no longer a box office attraction. The director insisted and got his man. This film had three directors. The first couldn't get along with two of his actors, one being the very man he insisted upon playing the lead role. He's rumored to have punched him in the jaw during a heated argument. The other actor (a very famous actor playing a supporting role) called his bluff about 'tangling' with each other which resulted in this first director leaving the project.
