It's similar to 1998's City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan, or 1998's Meet Joe Black with Brad Pitt and Claire Forlani. The Bishop's Wife is a bit on the lighter side with it's romance and comedy, but the main thrust is the same in all three films. An angel or, in the case of Brad Pitt's character, Death, visits our plane and falls in love with a human woman. I don't know if you've seen the latter two - pick your version, they're all good when you know what to look for.

Yes, it's one of my top ten favorites. I don't usually care for Loretta Young, but she's sandwiched between two of my favorite actors and is doing a great job. I've only seen The Preacher's Wife once since it was released. I remember I liked it very much. If I remember, Whitney Houston co-starred. I didn't get into her music much, but I've enjoyed her acting career.
