One problem I've run across in researching this is nobody can naildown a specific song as 'the first rock-n-roll'. There seem to be asmall handful. I grew weary looking up lyrics and lost my train ofthought. But I'm ok. Nothing a fresh cantaloupe won't cure

a short one..
An actress with perfect vision is made to wear
glasses that effectively made her blind. Even in
long shots, where they would've been undetectable.
(not the film's storyline - the actual production/direction)
I'm referring to a specific movie but any matching
response will do.

Excellent post Jonas

Message Boards Search Feature
One thing I haven't been able to accomplish using the Forum Search:
Locating a specific Thread within a Forum Category - e.g., I type
_classic film union_ into Search Terms (all Categories - Last 1 yr) and
all results are for posted responses containing the Search Terms in the
text or response header, not the Thread title itself. Search Terms
recognizes the RE: at the top of the response post but that is, more
and more, not a match for the Topic name. Sometimes it will match
and that results in a successful search. More often not.
I have long periods when I'm away and would like to catch up to
where I left off. Some topics fall (way) behind in the listings and all
I can remember (maybe) is the topic name or part of it. Searching
page-by-page is tedious at best. Am I missing something here?
Thank you

Did you see those trunks in Joe and the Volcano? They were yay big. That's what I want.

Looks like Max Schreck squinting

I miss Johnny Carson so bad it hurts. After years of watching
I've found, in retrospect, I had tuned in more to watch Johnny's
performance than to see most of his guests - the last ten years
anyway. I'm looking forward to this. Hooray for TCM!

John. Those men are staring at us. Do something John. John..?

You are on the money Miles. Mr. Autry is also the only person to have
all 5 stars on the walk of fame (last I heard). If he were alive today, I'd
vote him in for The President of the United States. Seriously.
your turn

I can't imagine paying $10-$15 for a small tub of GM-popcorn with artificial butter. Current high ticket prices can be avoided in most areas by attending the early matinee. I guess, soon, those prices will escalate.

Oh, that's good.

one mo time
I've starred in 93 feature films. I made 640 recordings,
including more than 300 songs written or co-written by me.
I joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and became a
Sergeant. During the war, I ferried fuel, ammunition, and
arms in the China-India-Burma theater of war and flew
over the Himalayas, the hazardous air route known as
"The Hump." When the war ended I was reassigned to
Special Services, where I toured with a USO troupe in the
South Pacific before resuming my movie career in 1946.
I carried my love for entertaining and sharp business
sense into broadcasting, where I owned award-winning
radio and television stations in Los Angeles as well as
other stations across the country. My great love for
baseball prompted me to prominence in the field. Not
to brag but I hold the honor of having achieved many
firsts in many fields.
I have to go now. So long.

Right again. Thanks Gipper
Who's this?

Recently I've heard several mentions in the news of movie production
moving to an all-digital format. This will ensure great visual presentations
at all times but at what expense. Will admission just keep going up?
Whad'ya think?

People really did talk that way then and before. I talk that
way to this day, at times, having learned it from old films.
Humpty Dumpty was early slang for a short, clumsy person.
Heebie Jeebies is like 'the creeps' or 'goosebumps' or the
'willies' or the hair standing up on the back of your neck.
Similar to a Halloween cat. It's that chill that runs up your
spine when there is nobody around.
I must have seen *The Big Sleep* a dozen times not being able
to figure out all the dead bodies. Then, when I knew what to
look for, there were no connections made in the film. But it's
still one of my favorite Bogart films. Mostly because of that
little comic routine with the female clerk in the bookstore.
