  1. By the way, I see that Sanjuro, like Yojimbo, co-stars another great actor, the wonderful and versatile Tatsuya Nakadai, who is becoming a fast favorite of mine.

Too bad he won't be reprising his role. (Or will he?)

What a picture! Great looking characters. This looks as if it could have been used as inspiration for the Dragonball Z animations.

  2. Henry and Peter Fonda appeared together in "Wanda Nevada".   I believe it was their only film appearance together.

That's the one. Dad called his son saying he was out of work and Peter paid him $1000 to do this cameo. The first time I saw this, I had no idea Henry was in it. Great make-up.

    Thanks, Miles. Your thread.

  3. I had mentioned in another thread that my local theater is attempting to go digital. This theater is a historical landmark, as well as our only source for classic film presentations on the big screen (outside of the rare classic sci-fi presentation at our one remaining drive-in).

Without checking, it's a pretty sure bet the 40th Anniversary Jaws will be in digital format. Our theater has been screening many of these anniversary and special presentation "films" over the years, but this restoration doesn't look like it's going to make it here due to the lack of proper equipment.

  4. OK, I give up. I have tried countless times to put a picture in my avatar image, yet nothing happens. So here I am - asking - what am I doing wrong?

Under My Name I click My Profile

I click on My Avatar image (where the word "change" appears)

Under Step 1 I click Use a Custom Photo

I click on browse which takes me to a photo file on my hard drive and I double click on a photo

    Under Step 2

    I click Done.

But nothing happens. Would somebody please tell me what step I left out or what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks,

I know this is a simple thing, but all bases must be covered.

When you say "I click Done", have you also returned to the bottom of the Profile page after clicking Done to click Save Changes?

    Then there's also this: http://forums.tcm.com/index.php?/topic/53549-cant-upload-a-profile-picture/

    No longer relevant

  5. Well, it's believable because Travolta's character in the movie is stupid.

Come to think of it - an awful lot of the characters he plays are stupid. He's well-suited to play those for some reason.

I think he fell into that Vincent "Vinnie" Barbarino thing..

  6. Travolta's character had left his gun on a counter outside the bathroom. Bruce's character discovered it about the same time Travolta opened the door to leave - PuhPuhPowww!! I believe he fell backward onto the toilet.

It has always bothered me that Travolta would have relaxed to the point of becoming a wee bit careless - even in what appeared to be a completely non-threatening environment; but that's when it always comes... isn't it? It almost seemed out of character, but it worked well with the comic book style plot.

I have found that my favorite parts were the prologue and epilogue (start and end of the same diner scene) - the rest of the film splits these two apart making us wait for the whole to complete itself. The ending seemed to resolve nicely on it's own apart from the body of the film, which to me works as a whole film all by it's lonesome. I think of it as one feature length and one short (diner) film.

  7. BUMP

It's weird looking at posts (that I made) so long ago, jeez... I think it might even be a little embarrassing or if not quite that somewhat queasy inducing. I haven't seen this movie in so long but I have a longing for that opening scene or two (and to gaze upon divine Carole).

So here is a revival of a thread from the Kid ... about a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good movie (as Larry David might say).

    :)

    Thanks for the BUMP.

    :)

I know what you mean about older posts, especially these from 2009 - woo! I'd like to write more like this one, and there are some I just can't believe I penned - wouldn't continue their style.

I'd really enjoy watching this one again.. SOON! (hint hint; wink wink; nudge nudge)

It's not on the schedule for the next 3 months. Here's hoping it will make a repeat performance around the same time this year: October

  8. like the question, but have no idea as to who...

    Any hints??

Four films are about, or revolve around war

One film is the third, and final, in a series

One film involves a reluctant psychic

(looking for the Academy nominated editor - film titles a bonus)
