  1. Ha!

This actress did most of her work in the 1960s - films and tv. She was a real stunner back then.

I know this beautiful woman, and I recognize the clue..

I hope someone will come along and give her a name.

    :)

  2. I believe that DGF's typical one-liner about her sounding old is enlightening as it relates to why we get the feeling of a larger age difference than there actual is;    Norma is from a bygone era;  the silent era.     While in years that era wasn't so far back (e.g. Joe would have been a child during that era and went to his share of silent films),    it is the style of that filmmaking that is 'old',  being so much different than the type of pictures being currently made.

A few scenes discuss these differences (e.g. when Norma and Joe watch her films or when they go visit the studio and watch how modern pictures are made).     So while the actual gap in years between silent films and modern movie making wasn't so great,  the gap in how those movies were made, their style,  the way actors acted etc...  was wide,  with Norma and Joe represented each era.

Today it is like seeing someone with a flip phone.     Regardless of their age, they will come off as being very 'old'.

Hey! I resemble that remark! I refuse to go iPfffoning!

  3. Sepia, this story of yours reminds me of when I was a little kid, and a little something my father would pull on me.

For years, when I was outside and then found our front door locked and would knock or ring the doorbell to get in and when Pop was inside the house, he'd walk to the door and ask me what the "password" was. As long as I could remember it was always "Swordfish", but I never knew why that was or why Pop had picked that word as "the password".

Years went by and when was about 15 or so, one night Pop, Mom and I were watching the Marx Brothers' "Horse Feathers", and lo and behold when the following scene came on that old Zenith TV...

...for me it was suddenly "mystery solved". And I turned to Pop and said, "Ah-HA! NOW I know why 'the password' was always 'SWORDFISH'!!!"

(...as I recall, Pop just smiled and winked at me)

    A Christmas Story moment..

    :P  ;)

  4. I've always been a sucker for time travel and time loop stories; in print and film.

Groundhog Day (1993) is a favorite of mine. I didn't care for Bill Murray on SNL, but when he hit the big screen he developed nicely - similar to his character in Groundhog Day.

Here are just a few relatively recent films using this theme. More can be found - HERE

    11 A.M. (2013)

    12 Dates of Christmas (2011)

    12:01 (1993)

    Camp Slaughter (2005)

    Christmas Do-Over (2006) - a remake of Christmas Every Day (1996)
