Well! You got the puzzle correct, however.. I have discovered the quote is not accurate. I got it from a (usually dependable) website, but 'twas not to be. The last word should read: N I G H T And.. Fine actor. My first awareness came via the films Twister and Patch Adams - his frustrated, and later helpful, Mitch Roman character really impressed me. I identified with him. I'm also a big fan of Helen Hunt, so Twister is a favorite of mine - I like the storyline and characters. Patch Adams.. well.. I really enjoy Robin Williams' serious works, and this one is really good, IMHO.

I certainly have some catching up to do on his films as I've only seen a handful. I, too, thought his Dracula (at home with that overly sculpted hair) was just a little over the top, but I went with it and, actually, have gotten used to it. I mean.. we all go for Dracula as a character anyway, right? In for a penny, in for a pound. Also, his role in The Fifth Element is the first one I saw him in. He seems to be playing comedy as the straight man - very well done, IMO. His character thinks outloud, almost as if addressing us without the eye contact. And, MovieCollector.. I know what you mean about his accent with no drawl - very distinctive; very effective. What stirred my current interest in him was his appearance in a recent TCM AMC interstitial on Mad Men - he looks quite like an earlier version of Eric Clapton. Now, I can't say whether Hugh Laurie and Gary Oldman are associated, but Mr. Laurie and Tom jones.. well.. Amended 5-20-15 7:51 PM

He's not as eccentric as Depp, IMO. You can see Depp acting, which isn't a bad thing, really. Just his style. Oldman tends to give more personality with his portrayals.

I didn't want to derail Bogie's new PSH thread, so I figured I'd start this one on my favorite contemporary actor. This guy is a chameleon when it comes to roles in film. He can play any type or style; any look from any period. Straight or comedic. Anyone else like this guy?
