  1. A Tony nominated Broadway fellow came to Hollywood and directed a classic of a particular genre with a star who was soon to break-out in a dramatic role and, years later, go on to win a ?Best? Oscar?the film has some significance this month?

    Name director, film, actress?

(by the way, mudskipper, I posted a blog a few months ago (at the Classic Movie & TV Caf? and on CFU) - my interview with Edna May Wonacott who was a supporting player (Ann Newton) in *Shadow of a Doubt*?she met Shemp Howard on her first trip to Hollywood and was thrilled?)

  2. Both are excellent guesses?and were films I thought might be contenders when I posted my first clue?and I love them both?*Mr. & Mrs. Smith* proved Hitchcock was capable of much more than ?suspense? and *The Awful Truth* is my very favorite screwball (nothing better than Grant and Dunne, et al) but I was thinking of another screwball gem of the golden era?

  3. Alistair Cook

Joel McCrea does this at the end of *Ride the High Country* she spent time teaching the children of the King of Siam in *The Great Gatsby* it is implied that Meyer Wolfsheim was able to do this to the 1919 World Series

    (don't know re: Bruno Kirby)
