  1. It's *The Razor's Edge* and it's your thread - good work...
  2. Jean Arthur was in *The Talk of the Town* with *Ronald Colman*
  3. Actually it's from *To Catch a Thief*... Jessie Royce Landis (as Jessie Stevens) is talking to Cary Grant (John Robie) about her daughter (played by Grace Kelly). Grant has just commented that the daughter is nice, and Royce Landis responds that maybe she's too nice and goes on with the remark about the finishing school.
  4. I'm neither Piper Laurie nor Raquel Welch. I was more of a leading lady than Piper Laurie and more of an actress and less a glamour girl than Raquel. I was once up to replace Marilyn Monroe in a film, but that didn't pan out.
  5. Rita Hayworth was in *The Lady From Shanghai* with *Everett Sloane*
  6. Early in my film career I was considered "hot stuff" and was even touted at times as a Bridget Bardot rival. But, though I was a beauty, mine was of a more delicate type and I soon was given leading roles in crime thrillers, serious dramas and romantic comedies. In the 70's I began doing more TV. But my film career wasn't over. I co-starred in a classic drama/horror/mystery thriller.
  7. An elegant and socially ambitious young lady breaks her engagement to the man she loves and marries a man from a wealthy family. new: Her former fianc? drops from sight and goes off to pursue his own interests. Years later they meet again. The young woman?s wealthy husband has lost the family fortune, but they are managing to live comfortably enough in someone else?s home. from the 1940's... (updated)
  8. Well, that one's just sitting here, so - it's from *Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas*, Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson - I've always liked this one, probably more familiar: "I'm sorry I ever sent her to that finishing school, I think they finished her there."
  9. *Her First Romance* - showing this Wed. on TCM
  10. *Father of the Bride* (1950, the only version that matters) - showing on TCM this month - 4/29
  11. I was in demand and within a couple of years took a key role in a film that was something of a shocker in its time...many awards were won. I worked with some of the greats: Paul Newman, James Stewart, Burt Lancaster, Gregory Peck, Montgomery Clift, Richard Burton, Frank Sinatra, Jack Lemmon, Steve McQueen! I was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar while still young and also received a Tony nomination and several Emmy nominations. I did win two Golden Globes.
  12. The *Dead* (1987), the last film directed by John Huston
  13. Edward Everett Horton was in *The Gay Divorcee* with *Fred Astaire*
  14. Rice, Mick - *Albert Finney* in *The Entertainer* (1960)
  15. An elegant and socially ambitious young lady breaks her engagement to the man she loves and marries a man from a wealthy family.
  16. Pritchard, Mabel - *Mildred Natwick* in *At Long Last Love* (1975)
  17. Well, Miles, to be safe, you could go with *Barry*. Alan Barry looks to have been most noted for playing Inspector/Superintendent Foley on "Ballykissangel" (BBC series) - tho he also served as best boy on *Out of Africa* ! Fresno is quite a ways from me, I'm north of SF, which is probably why I don't know about Mr. Autry's mayoral postion. As to your latest...*Wood* ?
