  2. Greer Garson was in *Sunrise at Campobello* with *Ralph Bellamy*
  3. I can't help but think of John Ford's *The Hurricane* (1937) - saw it not that long ago nw: seashore
  4. It is *Match Point* (2005), directed by Woody Allen, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson. This is the only film I've posted on this thread or "name the movie" from the current decade, but I think it's deserving. Also deserving is you, cmvgor, since it was you that prompted me to post *Match Point*. You'd posted an *Everyone Says I Love You* character on "Characters A - Z" and I began to think about *Match Point*. Coincidentally, *lavenderblue19* opened up this thread...good work and thanks for the inspiration! It's your turn...
  5. Here are all clues so far plus #9 - remember this is recent, it's set outside the U.S., the work of a prolific and award-winning director... 1. A young man with some talent but limited prospects connects with a very wealthy family. 2. It's his good fortune that there is a daughter in the family - who happily marries him. 3. His life is enviable - his wife is rich and adoring, his in-laws welcomed him into the family with open arms, he and his wife have a beautiful home, he's begun a promising career... 4. As fate would have it another woman, deeply attractive to him, reappears on the scene. 5. He can?t resist the temptation and embarks on a double life. 6. A double life can only be led so long...the other shoe drops with a resounding thud and he is pressed to make a decision. 7. A monstrous plot is set in motion. 8. ?the man who said he'd rather be lucky than good saw deeply into life... 9. It?s like tennis, sometimes when the ball ?hits the top of the net and sits there for a split-second it can go forward or fall back. With a little luck it goes forward and you win??
  6. How about *Thunderbolt and Lightfoot* (1974) with Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges?
  7. No, not Paul Newman, though like him I did work on live TV in the 50's, "Studio One," etc.
  8. Minnie Moore - Gena Rowlands in *Minnie and Moskowitz*
  9. I was born in New England. My mother was an actress and my father owned a dept. store. I studied both dancing and acting and made my Broadway debut in my late teens. My film debut was auspicious. I worked with an award-winning director and a talented cast. This film is now considered a classic and most of its stars went on to have long, celebrated careers.
  10. Van Heflin was in *Green Dolphin Street* with *Richard Hart*
  11. It is Billy Gilbert - BillleagueGil+Burt - I just didn't want to do another "Lee" or "ill" clue, so allowed the double g sound - and knew one of you would figure it out. Good work. It's your turn.
  12. It's not *House of Mirth* - tho good guess. This film isn't set in the U.S.
  13. One of my favorite S.Z. Sakall roles is Felix, the chef, in *Christmas in Connecticut*. He, like several others in the cast, is unforgettable in *Casablanca*. Thank you, sellyoulloyd, I'll be back with a person soon.

  18. It's not *The Age of Innocence* or *From the Terrace*. *Terrace* was released in 1960, this film is 40+ years more recent. Here are the clues so far, plus one: 1. 4. 19. Seems like when MilesArcher answered my question he could have posed one with another composer/film and the thread would move on that way - ? Just making sure I'm getting how this thread works.
