Good work *cmvgor* - it is *Out of the Past* (a favorite of mine - Jacques Tourneur - w/Mitchum, Douglas and Jane Greer as the deadly "Kathie"). It's your thread...

Not many years later I was introduced to Alfred Hitchcock and was cast in my first major screen role. I made quite an impression! I appeared in more than 60 films in less than 15 years. I also had a regular role on a sitcom and later made guest appearances on top-rated shows like ?I Love Lucy? and ?Our Miss Brooks.?

The main character and his partner had been hired by a wealthy man to find someone. The main character eventually tracked down the missing person. It was at this point that he made some clearly bad (and ultimately dangerous) choices.

*Lavendar* - *The Bigamist* is an excellent guess, but in this case your question is even better - this classic is a recent one by a prolific and acclaimed director. The clues till now, plus one. 1. A young man with some talent but limited prospects connects with a very wealthy family. 2. It's his good fortune that there is a daughter in the family - who happily marries him. 3. His life is enviable - his wife is rich and adoring, his in-laws welcomed him into the family with open arms, he and his wife have a beautiful home, he's begun a promising career... 4. As fate would have it another woman, deeply attractive to him, reappears on the scene. 5. He can?t resist the temptation and embarks on a double life. 6. A double life can only be led so long...the other shoe drops with a resounding thud and he is pressed to make a decision. 7. A monstrous plot is set in motion.

and here's more... Once we were settled on the West Coast and the business was going, I auditioned for and won a role in a Pasadena Playhouse production. When I decided to continue working with the group, I changed my professional name to that of the first character I?d played on stage. By the way, when I became an attorney back in my home state, I was the first woman attorney in the state - I was just 26!

It's quieted down here at "10 clues to movie" - so here's clue #6: 6. A double life can only be led so long...the other shoe drops with a resounding thud and he is pressed to make a decision.

It's not *A Place in the Sun* (can't heap enough praise upon that wonderful film)...here's more about this classic... The story weaves from past to present, from east coast big city to exotic coastal haunt to the jewel of west coast cities, to the mountains and trees, to a small town - and back again.

I've got no complaints with TCM at all. Overall, the channel is like breathing pure oxygen for me. Interesting to me is that after *Children of Paradise* was aired not so long ago, some of the online community here had seen it for the first time and loved it, raved about it. This makes me suspect that there could be a future for showcasing some of the ultra-classic international films... of course, right now I'm watching one of my favorite American films (by the British master), *Shadow of a Doubt* - and am as content as I can be...

Owen Marshall *TRON* or *Starman* ?

Thank you - and here's another: As a child I impressed with my musical talent, but a hand injury put an end to piano studies. I graduated from college and taught school until I married my first husband. I quit teaching to raise a family but when my marriage ended in divorce, I studied law and passed the bar. When my parents died, I left the law to help run our dad?s business. I also was also on the radio at that time. I closed the family business when I married a very wealthy man. When he lost his fortune we moved to Los Angeles and opened a small business.
