  4. Quite a few guesses on that round - and a wide variety of them. When I think that I started with *Harold and Maude* and ended up with *Lili* - very amusing. But all the clues finally clicked into place. Thanks, Polecat. I'll be back with a movie later...
  5. Edith Evanson was in *Forever Amber* with *Richard Greene*

  9. *Lili* (1953) with Leslie Caron?
  10. Another good guess, but not *Angels and Insects*
  11. *A Place in the Sun* and *The Talented Mr. Ripley* are both excellent guesses, but it's not either... 1. A young man with some talent but limited prospects connects with a very wealthy family. 2. It's his good fortune that there is a daughter in the family - who happily marries him.
  12. You do know me, I am Robert Donat. Good and quick work once again,*visualfeast* ... For anyone reading this and interested, here's a little more about me...Charles Laughton once referred to me as ?the most graceful actor of our time"...I worked some of the masters: Hitchcock, Carol Reed and King Vidor...I won the Best Actor Oscar in 1939 and my rivals for the award, all fine actors, were bigger stars than I - Clark Gable, James Stewart, Lawrence Olivier, Mickey Rooney. My health condition was athsma and it played a part in my relatively early death (53). Visual, after reading what you had to say about the musical number in *The Gang's All Here*, I had to look it up on Wikipedia. Among other things, read that because of her "Tutti Frutti Hat" number, Carmen Miranda's native Portugal wouldn't show the movie when it was first released. Interesting, Portugal got it, US censors didn't... It's your thread again!
  13. I have one that I'd like to try, see what the group makes of it... 1. A young man with some talent but limited prospects connects with a very wealthy family.
  14. Elliot, Margaret - Bette Davis in *The Star*
  15. No, I'm not Gene Tierney. Here's more about me: I co-starred with some celebrated leading ladies: Marlene Dietrich, Merle Oberon, Rosalind Russell, Ingrid Bergman, Greer Garson, and Deborah Kerr. One of them insisted that our film be held up (rather than have me replaced) until I recovered from a bout of bad health.
  16. I suffered from a health condition and that affected my career; I made only 20 movies in a 26 year career.
