Not *Kitty Foyle*, but a good guess...
A basically decent person seems to have overcome earlier bad choices and situations and moved on nicely. An encounter with an old acquaintance changes all that.

Another great guess, and I see how it fits, but it's not *The Age of Innocence*...one more clue:
1. A young man with some talent but limited prospects connects with a very wealthy family.
2. It's his good fortune that there is a daughter in the family - who happily marries him.
3. His life is enviable - his wife is rich and adoring, his in-laws welcomed him into the family with open arms, he and his wife have a beautiful home, he's begun a promising career...
4. As fate would have it another woman, deeply attractive to him, reappears on the scene.
5. He can?t resist the temptation and embarks on a double life.

perhaps *Carol Haney* ?

I have been trying to figure out who is who among the guest programmers (I'm new to the boards). I know each of you only by your user names on the boards, not your actual names. I've figured out Kyle and lzcutter, but I wasn't sure who you were and have been especially interested because you responded to one of my early posts about international actresses (Moreau, Deneuve, Aimee, etc.) - and I've checked on your posts from time to time since then. How happy I am to know you are presenting *The Letter* (I can hear Max Steiner's theme in my head as I write this). One of my favorite actresses (no surprise there) in one of her great roles - I sincerely Iook forward to seeing you on TCM and hearing what you have to say.
Note: I've seen the promo w/you on TCM but didn't know I was watching CineMaven at the time.

I remember seeing *Shane* as a small child with my parents and younger brother. It was a new release at the time. It made quite an impression. For a long time afterward my brother and I would be playing cowboys (or whatever) and at some point one or both of us would get into calling out: "Shane, come back, Shane!"

I would love TCM to showcase more foreign films. I am thrilled that Cocteau's *Beauty and the Beast* (one of the most beautiful films ever made) as well as Marcel Carne's epic *Children of Paradise* have been shown within the last year or so. TCM has also aired several Powell-Pressburger productions *(The Red Shoes*,*Black Narcissus, Peeping Tom, 49th Parallel, A Matter of Life and Death, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, I Know Where I'm Going)*, which I've deeply appreciated and enjoyed. Recently, British films of the early-mid 60's were on view: *Look Back in Anger, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, This Sporting Life, Room at the Top, Alfie.* What a treat!
I would personally love to see a month devoted to international cinema - Italian films - Fellini, Rossellini, Antonioni, Pasolini and others. And the French cinema - including The New Wave - Godard, Chabrol, Truffaut, Rohmer. And so much more - the Japanese classics, The Apu Trilogy...a sampling of the greatest films of from around the world.
TCM has done a wonderful job of showcasing the best of American classics and I would love to see the inclusion of film classics from around the world.

A new movie to name:
A new life - an old life. A new love - an old love. Sometimes the right choices are obvious?but that doesn?t mean we?ll make them.

The guesses posted have been excellent. The plot thickens. Clues so far, plus one:

I think that would be Arthur, King - but I know your ways, Polecat (recalling what you did to poor Steve McQueen)
Langland, Gay - Clark Gable in *The Misfits* (his last and possibly best performance)
