  15. Of course, this is all very subjective - 1939 boasts a long list of superb films, the year may have been the best movie year ever - and the list for 1994 has some gems, too. I'm a devoted fan of the classics, esp. from the 30's thru the 60's (as evidenced by my TCM addiction), but it didn't end there for me. The 70's gave us some classics, too: Cabaret, What's Up Doc?, Godfather I & Godfather II, American Graffiti, The Sting, Chinatown, Barry Lyndon, Network, Taxi Driver, Star Wars, Annie Hall and others. As did the 80's, 90's (as noted) and 00's. Even today I see something I like every so often! Back to 1967, I forgot to give a nod to Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke. Looking back I think Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate and Cool Hand Luke reflected the shape of things to come, an emerging point of view. In The Heat of the Night and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? reflected changing times, but were more traditional - in GWCD?'s case, its message was delivered in just about every line, often with syrup!
  16. I'd love to find out if you know the movie...if you are hesitant about posting a question of your own I believe it's fine for someone else (other than me) to go ahead and post one... In any case - more clues: The director is known for his visual style and worked till the mid-late 1950's. One of his last films was the subject of name the movie not so long ago...
  17. Deborah Kerr was in *Black Narcissus* with *David Farrar* (I'd like to have seen a lot more of him ! )
