Mostly right. The last line of my post ? ?his beginnings would curl your hair? was a clue about Jon Peters...he was a delinquent kid who eventually became a hairdresser to the stars. He claims that Warren Beatty?s character in *Shampoo* was based on him (tho others say ?no?) and that Richard Gere?s character in *American Gigolo* was, too (hmmmm). And you?re right, the big star who wisely didn?t marry him was Streisand.
When Sony acquired Columbia in 1989, Peters was hired along with friend and producing partner Peter Guber to co-head production (it also acquired their company). Within a few years, both were out.
Good job, you?re thread.

That?s the one ? Alfred Hitchcock started his Hollywood career with a bang ? in 1941 two of his films, *Rebecca* and *Foreign Correspondent*, were nominated for Best Picture (and *Rebecca* won). *Foreign Correspondent* was nominated for a total of six. It starred Joel McCrea and an excellent supporting cast that included George Sanders, Herbert Marshall, Robert Benchley and Albert Bassermann, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Good work, phroso, your thread?
