    A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES: THE GIGANTIC WORLD OF EPICS ? Sunday, Dec. 20, at 8 p.m.

     

    TCM presents the second in its new series of one-hour specials providing a Film Studies 101 look at top cinematic genres. This time, the network explores the world of cinematic epics, from the lavish spectacles of Cecil B. DeMille to the character-driven dramas of David Lean. The special will feature numerous interviews with filmmakers, actors, actresses, critics, film historians and others in presenting a comprehensive look at the genre from every side. A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES: EPICS comes to TCM from DreamWorks Television, with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey (Las Vegas, TNT's Into the West) serving as executive producers. The special was written, produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker and author Laurent Bouzereau.

     

    STAR OF THE MONTH: HUMPHREY BOGART ? Wednesdays in December

     

    With more than 60 films lined up, TCM will pay tribute to one of Hollywood's most popular leading men, Humphrey Bogart, celebrating the 110th anniversary of his birth. Among the many memorable classics in this month-long festival are Casablanca (1942), Key Largo (1948) and The African Queen (1951).

     

    GONE WITH THE WIND: 70th Anniversary Presentation ? Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 8 p.m.

     

    TCM celebrates one of the most beloved movies of all time with a special primetime presentation on the 70th anniversary of film's premiere at the Loewe's Grand in Atlanta.

     

    GUEST PROGRAMMER: NEKO CASE ? Tuesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 8 p.m.

     

    Singer-songwriter Neko Case, whose recent album Middle Cyclone has topped the charts and who has scored success as a member of the indie rock group The New Pornographers, comes to TCM to sit down with host Robert Osborne and present a selection of films she has chosen. The night will feature Radio Days (1987), A Face in the Crowd (1957), The Third Man (1949) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945).

     

    TCM SPOTLIGHT: FRANK CAPRA ? Mondays in December

     

    When it comes to bringing America's small town values to life on the big screen, nobody did it better than Frank Capra. TCM honors the legendary filmmaker in December with a collection of such memorable classics as

     

    TCM SALUTES SHERLOCK HOLMES ? Tuesday, Dec. 22

     

    With the arrival in theaters of Guy Ritchie's new film Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams, TCM's programmers decided to give movie fans a chance to see the famed London sleuth in his earlier cinematic incarnations. The extensive roster includes several films starring cinema's quintessential Holmes, Basil Rathbone.

     

    THE ESSENTIALS ? Hosted by Alec Baldwin and Robert Osborne?Saturdays at 8 p.m.

     

    December's installments of this signature movie showcase hosted by Emmy winner Alec Baldwin and TCM host Robert Osborne include Random Harvest (1942 ? Dec. 5), The Mouse that Roared (1959 ? Dec. 12), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942 ? Dec. 19) and The Asphalt Jungle (1950 ? Dec. 26).

  2. In an article I read back in January of this year, TCM announced they would be doing a tribute to Frank Capra in December, including the classic *It's A Wonderful Life*. However, in Movies News on the TCM sight, they talk about TCM Night at the Movies: Thrillers, in October. They also mention something about TCM Night at the Movie: Epics, for December. Does anyone know anything about this?
