The Thin Man and Noir!! Grooving Thurs and Fri on TCM!!!
audreyforever replied to markbeckuaf's topic in General Discussions
This is very exciting!!! Just a quick question, all of these noirs have some sort of Christmas in them, whether it be a scene or theme? -
This has always bugged me, so many people say White Christmas but I wholeheartedly like Holiday Inn better. I prefer Fred over Danny, Bings acting, plot, and the fact that (correct me if I'm wrong, seriously) it has more Christmas to it. Is it just me or could White Christmas be 1000X better if it had more of a Christmas focus?!

Films that TCM should show more often...
audreyforever replied to FredCDobbs's topic in General Discussions
North by Northw....oh wait, wrong thread -
> {quote:title=kriegerg69 wrote:}{quote}I think I recall that one but not for certain. It's the one where they show a brief clip of The Adventures of Robin Hood and there's a voice-over explaing the action. As for the letterboxing one, which they have shown a lot recently, they should at least update it. The clips they use from films like Gigi and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are not even restored properply, and thats not even the letterboxed clips shown!!!

This doesn't actually have to do with the movie, but right after it, when the next three movies were listed. The next thing that came on was an old Robert Osborne short with him talking about SAP. Does anyone remember that? I feel like the last time that was one was around 2003...maybe its just me haha.

Leonard Maltin hands down. You can criticize me all you want, no pun intended, but I love the guy.
-
I'll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks for the update!

bleh.....it's been awhile since a real classic pre-1950 we fans want to see...i'm losing interest.
-
What have we learned from Leonard Maltin so far?
audreyforever replied to clore's topic in General Discussions
I must be wierd...I like the guy ; No, but I can agree with you guys, especially when critics/historians delve into a star's personal/romantic life, it's never interested me. I like Maltin as an historian who writes well and is a becon in this world for all who love classic films. -
Placing the Actor's Name + Pic at the start of a pic.
audreyforever replied to MrSilent's topic in Information, Please!
From what I remember they were mostly at the beginning of B-Movies, especially from Warner Brothers. Neat little practice, maybe to add a few seconds to the running time, but the unofficial "death of the B" was in 1941 I want to say (please correct), so maybe around then it stopped. -
That has gotta be the best cover art ever!
