It seems as if the last few years TCM is beginning a tradition of having the SOTM for December a reliable member of theier movie library that can be scheduled for a bunch of 24 hour tributes throughout the month. I don't know if anyone else has heard this or has even wrote about it on the forums, but I found out that the Star of the Month for December is William Powell. It's on the home theater forum talking about the new TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection.

I much prefer the SUTS theme they used for the last few years.

Other than Scarlet, what character would you of most wanted Paulette to have gotten during her stay in Hollywood? Mine- Delilah in C.B. Demille's Samson and Delilah

Audrey was decades ahead of other actresses! Look at her impact on style and fashion today!

I guess if there was a list of the 5 actors/actresses that you have to feel bad for in Movie History, PGoddard should be included. So close to getting Scarlet which would have immortalized her...

I watched Nothing But the Truth.....very funny I recorded Vice Squad.....looking forward to this film noir/crime drama Currently recording Charge of the Lancers....gotta love those B-Adventures from Columbia!

I never would of guessed that! Jane Powell's one of my favorites, so I guess if I lived down there I would have to sing On the Street Where You Live everytime I walked by her house! :^0
-
Swithin, she lives across the street from you?!?!?!? You lucky devil What I would give to live near Ms. Powell!

Johnny Guitar is a strange film, at least that's what i thought. However the end was good!

I would go and get that but when they were on in January I made my own "set" of all the shorts and features on DVD-R's.

The lovable nonsense of Red Skelton
audreyforever replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
I think Skelton would be much better for young kids moreso than Benny or Hope, because he's more wacky in a kid-friendly way. And even when he's says a joke it something everyone gets. Sometimes Benny and Hope's jokes (although hilarious!!!) would go right over kid's heads. -

4-feature packs: thumbs up or down?
audreyforever replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
I bought the melodrama's one and I was not disappointed at all. They come in a nice sturdy set, have the slip case, and for the price you can't beat it. However, the discs are the same as the ones that were originally distributed by Fox. -
Maltin: On the money or off-target?
audreyforever replied to TopBilled's topic in General Discussions
You know we better watch out cause one of these posters could be Maltin himself! And no...it ain't me Edited by: audreyforever on Jul 7, 2011 2:17 PM -
Gosh...I thought it was originally suposed to be OUT OF THE MAST, a precurser to ALL THE BROTHERS WERE VALIANT as Mitchum and Douglas the brothers fighting over Greer.

Just to enforce my prior statement- I love Maltin's book(s) and reviews, but sometimes I wonder. He gives THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE 4 Stars and OUT OF THE PAST 3 1/2 Stars. I think OUT OF THE PAST is as good if not a little bit better. -
Maltin: On the money or off-target?

You have to give him credit since there is 9,000 movies in just the classic version of his book. And I also think he gets help from others when writing reviews. What review suprises you the most? I can't think of one now but there are some he'll give 4 stars too and I'm shocked, and others 2 1/2 stars which I think are brilliant. He gives LILLIAN RUSSEL 2 stars but I would give it 3. It's better than most Alice Faye stuff and yet he hated it. -
Do you know the name of this gangster movie
audreyforever replied to Boroff's topic in Film Noir--Gangster
Try NIGHTFALL from 1957 with Aldo Ray and Anne Bancroft. No Promises but I remember a briefcase, shootout, and mountain/snowy conditions. -

Let me restate Fred: WOW.... But that was very intresting all the same! -
One performance that really changed my view on acting is Olivia in The Snake Pit. I tink it's her greatest performance, and should have won in 1948. But, imho 1948 is the best array of best actress's in the history of film.
