I got my April Now Playing Guide and there is a Kathryn Grayson Tribute! It's on Sunday the 18th:
8:00 *The Desert Song* (1953) A French Professor secretly leads a band of desert freedom fighters. Kathryn Grayson, Gordon McRae, Steve Cochran. C-110m.
10:00 *Show Boat* (1951) Riverboat entertainers find love, laughs, and hardships as they sail along "Old Man River." Ava Gardner, Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson. C-108m.

I'm also looking forward to Esther in Ancient Rome!
-
I just remembered there's a lot of references to Capitalism in Fifth Avenue Girl.

I just recorded that one today, it looks pretty good!

Ya, that would ruin it just a bit!

Don't you mean loooooooooong marathon,

I think he's got his groove on in this picture

-
I watched it during Summer Under the Stars last year I think.

I love her so much. And she's still getting around...my congrats to you Miss Rainer!
-
Don't you absolutely love Eric Blore?
-
Maybe it would be good for Essentials Jr.

-
Your right. I don't care, Luise Rainer stole that film...she deserves top billing

-
I am pleased that there devoting a prime time block to this fabulous film.
-
This is not only my favorite A/R film, it is one of my all-time favorite films. I :x Eddie Everett Horton! Thanks for devoting a thread to this magnificent film!
*Awards:*
The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as Art Direction (Carroll Clark and Van Nest Polglase), Original Song (Irving Berlin for "Cheek to Cheek"), and Dance Direction (Hermes Pan for "Piccolino" and "Top Hat").
In 1990, Top Hat was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
In 2006 this film ranked #15 on the American Film Institute's list of best musicals.

> An interesting thing about the structure of NAZI SPY is that Eddie Robinson gets top billing. But he does not appear until forty minutes into the film (and it's a 100 minute film).
I like it when movie stars don't appear until late in the film; idk, it just makes them look better or something
. For example, in The Great Ziegfeld, Myrna Loy doesn't appear in the film until 135 minutes, and the film is 186 minutes long! -
Nice pictures! Although not my favorite June Allyson films, it's still neat to see her and Bogie work together. By the way, did anyone know that the working title of Battle Circus was MASH ?
