I remember watching it late one night back in July, when they had Stewart Granger as SOTM. It's OK, but there's not enough of Charisse in it.

    > TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY and THREE LITTLE WORDS were better than WORDS AND MUSIC (Rodgers and Hart), RHAPSODY IN BLUE (Gershwin), or NIGHT AND DAY (Porter)........Paul Muni's biopics on Louis Pasteur and Emile Zola were very well-done, and much-honored.

I agree. I think you have to be a real MGM Musical film junkie to enjoy Words and Music, or you'll just find it boring. As for Paul Muni's Biopics, they are superb!

This is my list of the top 10 Biopics of all time (classics), ranked:

1 The Pride of the Yankees (1942)

    2 Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)

3 The Diary of Anne Frank (1959)

    4 The Great Ziegfeld (1936)

5 The Life of Emile Zola (1937)

    6 Sergeant York (1941)

7 The Spirit of St. Louis (1957)

    8 The Miracle Worker (1962)

9 The Story of Louis Pasteur (1935)

    10 Madame Curie (1943)
