  1. NPR has a segment called "Movies We Missed"  where people from NPR review movies that most people have seen but they never have.  One of the first installments was "Casablanca"    The person usually avoided black and white movies and had low expectations.  He, of course, loved it for many of the reasons you mentioned above.  He knew famous lines from the movie, loved Bogart and Bergman, was impressed at how current the theme of the movie still was.  I'm not sure if they still do the segment but I've heard it on Saturday mornings with Scott Simon.

I always thought the clown, Pennywise, in the original 1990 mini-series IT was pretty scary. It's hard to believe that was almost thirty years ago and John Ritter and Harry Anderson are no longer with us. There is a 2017 re-make, which I haven't seen as yet, and I understand a Chapter Two is due out next month.

Yes!  Tim Curry as Pennywise was very creepy, peeking out from the sewer grate. That mini-series had a good cast of familiar faces.  I didn't find the most recent Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard) nearly as creepy, for some reason.  Part one was fine.  Part two comes out this fall with the grown up kids coming back to town.  The preview looks pretty spooky, though.
