White Lotus (Season 1, 2021) Created by Mike White. Starring Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, and Steve Zahn. Nominated for 20 Emmys and won 10. Set at a tropical resort, the 6 episodes focus on three groups of visitors and the resort employees who serve them. Coolidge plays a rich, boozy, needy woman who has come to scatter her mother's ashes. Coolidge is playing the same character she's played in everything for the last 20 years. There's a couple on their honeymoon. The wife is having second thoughts as the husband is driving the resort manager to a nervous breakdown with his complaints. There's a family with spoiled kids and parents who have drifted apart. Overall, it felt like there was a lot of filler and not much story even for just 6 episodes. There were two weird scenes involving the manager (Murray Bartlett) spiralling out of control. One the manager gets caught in a compromising position with a male employee. Another he takes **** revenge on a visitor who is trying to get him fired. Bartlett will be forever burned in my brain for that last scene. Yikes. I got what the character was going to do without having to actually see it. I sort of felt embarrassed for the actor. Season 2 is airing now but I'll skip it. (Apparently, sc@tological is a banned word here. How about 💩?)

Do you happen to know what movies they are showing for the tribute to Ray Liotta on the 10th? (I didn't see a listing yet on TCM's schedule.) I assume one of those TBA slots will be movies of people who passed away this year but who weren't big enough to warrant a whole day or evening tribute. I'm a little surprised they are doing an evening for Liotta, as much as I like him.
